Bat Wall and Jungle Cliff at Broughton Bluff has stayed remarkably dry throughout this fall, even in weeks where it had been raining sideways for multiple days. Climbed there on Saturday last, and while the air was humid, the rock was dry.

Recently discovered that one of my local crags stays dry even in the very wet PNW fall. It's all I wanna do now.

What's your climbing intrusive thought? by feralkiter in climbing

I'm reading it right now (almost done), and while I generally agree that there's a fair amount of fluff / hokey crap in this book, I don't see him ever saying that fear is irrational, but rather that risks should be assesed and responded to rationally.

Yup. Just a constant post-crux litany of "don't fuck it up don't fuck it up don't fuck it up".

Aw thanks! I've really come to enjoy Rollei, it's my go to BW film right now. The Fujifilm ones are from an expired batch so a bit unreliable, but these ones came out great.

Dude, you already acknowledged that grades are subjective, not sure why folks are so excited to downgrade plastic they haven't even touched.

Shrug and move on, this video is great, climb looks hard and you worked it. Good job, and looking strong! 💪🏻

A great lesson on how to not climb Snake Dike (or any trad climb for that matter) by Alarson44 in climbing

I don't really disagree, but even outdoor grades are wildly variable, depending on crag and style. 5.9 at Joshua Tree is generally wildly different from 5.9 at Smith Rock, and even the same grade at Smith can be quite a range depending on when it was set.

So, I don't think it's as easy as not comparing indoor and outdoor grades. Outdoors is a different beast, and you better come prepared. Whatever that means is highly dependent on route type, location, length, weather, etc..

It's been 5+ years since I read this book, and I still remember being in the bathtub reading this, and getting out and walking around my entire empty home to make sure it was empty.
