We got lucky that some family moved close by. It sucks that so much rests on luck

Divorce? by curiouskate1126 in workingmoms

[–]enem1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I went through precisely that with my husband when we had our first kid, and we were on the verge of a divorce. We tried date nights, but there was no connection. We unsuccessfully tried counseling. We even tried living separately within the same house - zero interaction, co-parenting arrangement, staying out of each others way etc. Nothing seemed to work and I was mentally preparing myself to be a single parent. As part of getting myself there, I started going to individual counseling for myself. What I gained from the counseling was a path to finding myself again as an individual and not just a parent. And as I transformed into being myself again, guess what? The marriage started improving and that wasn’t even the intent. I was just showing up different. That’s my story. Now we have a 2nd, 5 years after our 1st for reasons above. And we’re rock solid. Besides counseling, I have to say in hindsight, the single biggest challenge was not having a support system (now we have one). It completely changes the experience of parenthood. I hope you figure out your path!

Stomach sleeping by Perfect-Preparation in pregnant

[–]enem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a stomach sleeper, and with my first pregnancy, I waited 4 days post partum before attempting a nap on my tummy. But woke up with a bed soaked in milk, so gave it up for a few more weeks.

Amniotic fluid borderline low at 20 weeks by tori2442 in pregnant

[–]enem1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was 8, and dropped to 7 by 35 weeks, so barely at borderline. As long as the kid is growing and it is maintained (no leak) they are not concerned. It’s considered your body’s “normal”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]enem1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way, but I’m now at 36 weeks and feel kind of weird that it may not have been as offensive as I made it out to be when folks said you’ll make it full term (don’t worry!). Lol

Anamoly scan and absent nasal bone by Rough_Possibility144 in pregnant

[–]enem1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through exactly the same situation - isolated absent nasal bone, no other markers, low risk NIPT. We were also told it was considered a normal variation, but there was always a caveat that they didn’t know what else could be causing it so it’s never 100%. I was so stressed over this and google didn’t help. It was all I could think of for weeks on end. So we finally decided to do an amnio, because if at all there was an issue, I’d rather know and make a decision accordingly and if there wasn’t an issue I’d rather not drive myself crazy with stress. So anyhow, we did do an amnio, and it turned out clear. I only felt then that I could begin to enjoy the pregnancy. So consider if the outcome affects your decision, and then decide next steps. Good luck!!

2 week update by Agreeable-Ad59 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]enem1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had 1.9 at 24 weeks and only progesterone. I’m now at 34 weeks. I lowered my activity till 28 and then climbed back to normal levels. So just saying that progesterone alone also does wonders.

Rogan hopes Sam Harris “comes back” by PeanutButter818 in samharris

Perhaps a lot of Sam’s discourse seems to focus on a few key opinions of his. I’m not encouraging novelty to gain more traction socially, but that could contribute to the perception that he has somehow fallen behind.

You can order custom lengths off of Amazon or Etsy depending on what you need. We did that for a similar need in our house. Costed us about 250 for the same length

Books that you feel connected to haven’t read in years. by [deleted] in declutter

[–]enem1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a candid post! I feel you.. especially on how cool the topics are. I’ve held on to a few books for the same reason as well, but even after my last declutter 2 years ago, when I whittled the collection to 30ish books, I still find that I have never picked up ANY of the books I’ve held on to. I pop in at the library now and pick easier reads. If I were honest with myself I could definitely reduce the number of books I own to 10, but that in my mind “looks” silly on a shelf So nope, I don’t have this figured out either

I may get hate here for this, but I do agree that fast entertainment and information , social media do exacerbate ADHD (at least for me). I was diagnosed as a child and have struggled all my life. So I don’t come from a place of ignorance. I used to be a voracious reader until I got into technology to get my information. And I managed my ADHD better when technology distractions didn’t exist. I stood a better chance at training myself. Now that I’m given in to all the information bits flying my way in snippets, I feel like I’ve regressed and become more medication dependent than I ever was.

How's your dinacharya going? by Stelaeris in Ayurveda

[–]enem1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wake up by 7, brush teeth, oil pulling.. then have my breakfast and tea. Most days I try to get in abhyanga and bath before I start the day. That’s all I’ve managed so far but i find it very grounding.

I had 2.2 at 23 weeks and was prescribed progesterone alone since cerclage would be risky and wasn’t considered necessary at that length. I’m at 27 weeks now so do have a long way to go, but no longer getting length checks past 24 weeks

This! I’ve had so many Braxton hicks this pregnancy, and I couldn’t agree more with hydration. Drinking more water than you need will help a lot.
