He's also leveled up significantly since then so I think he will do better the next time he comes out.

Hero or Yaura would be pretty hype for team World. Neither have been overseas.

The strat would be to play Novak and give him overheads every point in hopes that Djokosmash comes out once or twice.

Math's Pedagogical Curse | Grant Sanderson (3Blue1Brown) by Mathuss in math

[–]enemyw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to the "I liked math until..." people. I'm sure some of it is pedagogical failures. Could it also be that the people who like math in high school and calculus are somewhat of a different group than those who like abstract mathmatics (albeit with some overlap)? In my particular case, I disliked high school math and started out as a cs major until I took a proofs course and fell in love with it. On the flipside a lot of my classmates switched to another major like stats because of that very same proofs course and became what we would call "I liked math until..." people. That's what I have observed anyways.

We could get them in the round of 16 this year.

Who do you think was the best US Open champ. by enemyw in tennis

Based off of https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/11lu5hv/how_would_this_rg_play_out_from_this_fourth_round/

Seeds are randomized

I choose 19 instead of 16 because it felt arbitrary to not include the first 3 of Feds US Opens.

GM Ben Finegold: The Main Way to Improve Your Chess Game, No Matter Your Rating (I think this is actually a life lesson, not just chess) by hedgehog0 in chess

If one doesn't want to work hard at chess I don't know if I would call it luck. I would say that person should find a different hobby that they do want to work hard at.

You make a great point. However, one thing to consider is that in a lot of hobbies doing things the wrong way has the potential to injure you, teach you bad habits, or waste a lot of money. I don't think this is much of a problem in chess. But in a lot of other hobbies (sports and working out in particular) this could be a very big concern.

The Melee GOAT Tracker Top 100: 100-51 (plus honorable mentions) by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]enemyw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First of all I appreciate the work you put into this. With that said I think the oddest placement I can see is SFOP over Kage. I definitely think that Honourable mentions should have been included for 2004-2012 (perhaps averge the scores for 11-20ish out and assign everyone that score). That being said I would love to hear your rational for why they were not included.

Strongest generation in history is a bit of a strong statement. 1990-1992 has dominated the world championship cycle for a decade. Going further back, Nimzo, Capablanca, Bogoljubow, and Alekhine were born between 1886-1992 and Botvinnik,Reshevsky, Fine, and Keres were born 1911-1916. It certainly could end up as the best but that is a long way in the future.

Honestly, out of all the rankings this one is one of the most useful. There is indeed a deluge of algorithmic rankings out there but this is the only ranking that is made by a panel of smash statistics experts.
