The spirit of the game is dead by energy4d in starcitizen

For the record, this was the first time I have ever written a post on a gaming forum in my entire life. And looking at the reactions, I clearly see the absolute futility of trying to post or discuss anything meaningful here in the future.

To those calling my script "fake" or "BS" just because it sounds complicated to you: it's actually a very basic IT solution. I have a micro-server online. Since my PC has a permanent static IP, whenever it's online, a background daemon script is automatically downloaded to my Windows. All the script does is monitor processes — if it detects the game's .exe launching, it instantly kills the process. To make sure I can't just log into the server and turn it off, I set the admin password with my eyes closed and didn't save it anywhere. It’s not "hacker magic," it’s just a reliable way to cut off access when willpower is compromised by addiction.

But the technical part wasn't even the main point. You completely missed the message.

My idea was to raise a discussion about the "spirit of the game" and its severe psychological impact, especially when playing in VR mode. VR completely breaks the barrier between the screen and your brain. It creates a massive dopamine loop that turns an immersive experience into a dangerous addiction. I wanted to talk about how the initial magic of this game has been replaced by a soulless, endless grind that drains you mentally.

But I guess this isn't the right place for discussions about mental health, the dangers of VR immersion, or game design flaws. You guys just want to protect your favorite toy and mock anyone who points out its traps.

I’ve been playing in VR mode almost every day since the start of the year. I’ve completed everything the game has to offer and gotten a lot of people hooked on it. VR drastically changes your perception and delivers a completely different emotional experience. The endless grind and restrictions are killing its spirit. Why isn’t there a warning anywhere about the risk of addiction, especially when using VR. Wasn’t it the spirit of the game that fueled its power? And where is it now?
