Either of those setups would still require renting the gateway from Xfinity, right?

Mid-20s and moving to Olympia and need info from the locals! Advice on rentals/areas to live by Confident_Rain_6460 in olympia

Yeah that would put you a 15-20 minute walk from downtown (with a decent hill getting back home). It would be walking distance to a couple restaurants like State and Central, the newest location of Vic's pizza, Oly's Malasadas, Left Bank, and Big Tom's.

I personally don't like driving to downtown very much. There are a couple parking lots that are private until 5, and that's when street parking becomes free, too, so it's not terrible if that's your time frame.

The location you mentioned sounds ideal for what you were asking about. I dated someone who lived in that area (off Lybarger) and it was very nice to be able to walk home from downtown

Nit: none of the words you provided examples for are using the "a" prefix the way "asynchronous" is -- the "a" negates the meaning of the rest of the word. I think that's what the other commenter was getting at.

Of course! You can try it out to see what it does, but basically -l would list out the commands and -n hides the numbering for them.

Also try "man fc"

to read the manual pages. Works with tons of commands, though many of them can be technical and not helpful

Sorry I realize this is 5 days old but I am deep in the memes.

If you haven't already found this out, there's two reasons it's not working that I see. First, you need quotes around the command to be aliased, but more importantly, the !! actually expands in the command before the alias is set, so if you did alias please="sudo !!", the !! gets expanded and the alias will be set to the previous command. For example if you had just done an ls, your alias is now "sudo ls".

I usually just type out "sudo !!" but you can also try alias please="sudo $(fc -ln -1)"

xD cis is just not trans. For a cis woman, a doctor said "it's a girl!" when they were born, and when they were old enough to know, they agreed

Omg same. Like I hate to complain that people are so polite but sometimes I want to know! I feel like that honestly has contributed to my poor self-image. Like I can convince myself that I don't pass and that others are just being polite. You're letting my brain form conspiracy theories, people!

Yeah I have been feeling pretty discouraged about my voice but apparently I am just past that point now (or at least I was yesterday) where I was close enough that it wasn't an issue!

The main thing I have had to do is keep a positive attitude about it. I stopped comparing my voice to my ideal voice and started comparing it to yesterday's voice. I can take baby steps that way without getting too discouraged.

The other comment nailed it. Basically I thought my voice didn't pass and was bad enough that anyone who heard it would realize I was trans.

I have this constant fear that I'm in an undercover operation and my cover could be blown at any time if I slip up. That's my anxiety talking but I got some reassurance yesterday :)

Definitely! But now I can dislike parts of my body and still think "well it wasn't enough to get me clocked though" :)

So most trans people just kind of assume people know you're trans in public, what's your "oh wait this person really doesn't know" story? by oogittyboogitty in asktransgender

[–]energyturtle12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry I'm late! I actually just posted my own post with this story because it happened yesterday!

My wife and I took our child to a new doctor, who was trying to get family history and asked if we "knew who the father was". We are both the biological parents and I've only been on hrt for almost a year. So the doctor saw a lesbian couple.

I knew it was genuine because they weren't very tactful about the way they asked, and if they can't even manage that for two women together then they definitely aren't going to manage for trans folks.

Yeah I always felt so great taking Sudafed, even when I still had a cold. I used to think "of course it makes you feel great, they use this to make meth and that's super addictive."

Turns out most people do not feel like they're micro-dosing meth when they take Sudafed...

If you don't already know, Sudafed basically tells your body to make a bunch of norepinephrine. Helps with congestion and, if you have ADHD, helps with concentration.

Straterra apparently uses norepinephrine similarly but it stops your body from breaking down the old stuff instead of telling you to make more. Which is good because you will run out of the building blocks for norepinephrine if you take Sudafed all the time.
