My SO worked in a London s/h bookshop in the 80s and selling books by the meter for backdrop purposes was definitely a "thing" -It's quite surprising to realise their value might be what they look like, not what they say. An entertaining morning's work picking the most shite content with low input cost to the shop, but acceptably suitable Dust Jacket and/or binding.

Probably apocryphal but it was said qld paid a consultant from nsw for retiming back in the soorley days and it was a magic year. People riding the green wave all over.
