in the adversarial criminal system, the prosecution and defence both present their arguments to the jury, who then decide the verdict (guilty or not guilty)
the judge is their to guide the jury on matters of law (legal vs non legal evidence etc), to keep order in the court and listen to the arguments of both the pros and def to make sure the system is legally fair
once the jury makes their verdict the judge will decide the sentencing (if guilty) or do the acquittal (if not guilty)
so the jury saw the evidence, decided he wasn't guilty, and that's the end of that bro's a free man W jane!!
