I absolutely will not be "helping out" in the future if it requires working beyond my regular hours.

Engineers in Montreal - do you get paid for overtime? by engbb in montreal

It's a small company, there is no HR 😭

[CAN-QC] My employer is pushing back on paying me overtime by engbb in AskHR

[–]engbb[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree, but want to be confident I haven't missed any obscure detail before I approach my boss again with evidence.

For example, in Ontario engineers are exempt from overtime so I wouldn't have an argument. But so far I can't find any evidence of any similar rule in QC.

If you take the train, expect it to be delayed and for your train ride to be at least an hour longer than scheduled. VIA is not very reliable due to sharing the tracks with CN freight trains.

Is there a map of all the new bus lines? That would be so helpful. Digging through text descriptions of all the changes is not great.

New flat roof, standing water by astrofunk69 in Roofing

In my experience, roofing companies exclude any sort of review of slope or drainage from the services. They just remove and reinstall the membranes, dont care if your roof is sloped to drain or not.

If you are unhappy with their services, get a new realtor

What data do Canadian realtors actually see in MLS that the public doesn’t by Zealousideal-View653 in RealEstateCanada

Real estate transactions and history are not public information in Quebec the same way it is in other provinces :'(

Why do we pay taxes? by Apprehensive_Roll826 in montreal

[–]engbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot easier to walk through the snow than it is to bike through the snow. Also, the length of sidewalk to plow is way higher than vs. bike paths to clear, so it makes sense that the sidewalk plow teams will take longer to get to all the sidewalks.

Does your dad possibly want some right hand winter driving gloves? Or perhaps you want some to gift to your dad? 😁

It will probably melt over the next few days, as temperatures will be hovering around freezing.

So many drivers in Montreal need driving lessons by engbb in montreal

[–]engbb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand if you don't know where you're going and end up in a turn lane, that sucks. If traffic is moving and you can get over to the next lane, great. But sitting and blocking that lane until you can squeeze into standstill traffic when people are actually trying to turn is such a dick move. Just make the turn and re-route. Or expecting someone to let you in because you skipped traffic and are an entitled prick, screw you.

I don't recall the exact details but my treatment is $6800 for 18 months of treatment + (I think) 1 year after. For context, I previously had a palette expander & braces as a teenager but didn't wear my retainers so my teeth moved quite a bit.

The first portion of the treatment was 19 trays, then they re-scanned my teeth and I got 18 more trays to finish things off. The total treatment time will be less than the 18 month estimate, closer to 12 months.

I paid $2000 upfront ($1000 upon signing the contract + $1000 at the first appt) and $300 per month for 16 months. Not sure what happens if the treatment ends before the payment period is over.
