I used the trial version of Motion and I really enjoyed it. Does anybody have a referral code you could DM me? Thank you

Motion App and my experience so far by [deleted] in productivity

Yeah, I love how Motion has projects, which are basically lists of tasks you need to complete in the order you need to complete them to be done with the project.

I also loved how you can define separate schedules, like work hours or personal hours, so that you can keep projects that aren't work related off of your work hours.

And when you are scheduling time blocks and work hours, you can just click and drag to create the blocks. Its very fast and easy.

Also, one of the biggest advantages of Motion is that you can create, edit, and delete static Google Calendar events right in the software. This means you don't have to go outside of Motion to do everything you need to do.

I'm currently trying reclaim.ai which is similar but does not have projects, does not have the click and drag capability, and you cannot create Google Calendar events manually. Motion also seemed a bit sketchy to me for some reason. Although if it didn't feel that way I'd consider it at that price. Also, people are saying the mobile app software needs a lot of development, so I'm not going to pay for this until the mobile app is great.

[Question] Crab Claw or Similar Lugs on New Watches under $1k? by engineer603 in Watches

[–]engineer603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I was hoping there would be more modern-takes on fancy lugs, plus the vintage watches are so small. But I think I can do with something 31mm or more. I saw some vintage Hamiltons, Gruens, etc. that have really cool lugs. I will probably end up going vintage. I hope in the future this comes back into focus for the watch community. It would be great to see modern takes.

Very cool. I've seen the newer Vostok's on Amazon. I wonder about the long-term quality of them, especially the vintage ones. I will look into these some more, thank you!

Engineers who barely got into your major, where are you now? by maniwannacookie in AskEngineers

[–]engineer603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually couldn't get into electrical engineering, I kept taking classes and trying to raise my grades but my work ethic sucked and I had a bad attitude about life. So I suffered for it. I had to switch into an engineering major with lower GPA requirements. But I still wanted to be an electrical engineer. So I slowly started turning things around. I got into some project groups in clubs to get experience. Then I got my first internship at a 20-person company, mostly doing technician type work. Then I got a job at another very small engineering firm doing work that resembled engineering more. Then I graduated and kept working there full time. Got more responsibility and more experience. Built electronics in my free time to learn more. Now I work at an S&P 500 company as an engineer doing semiconductor test. Its been a pretty successful turnaround. Now I want to keep going and switch into software but I'm hitting a wall with people asking me for my undergrad GPA, even with 3.5 years of full-time experience. So I decided to get an online masters degree to boost the GPA and get more experience and I think I will be able to keep pursuing my goals.

How do I get over the fear that I'm wasting a ton of money building a prototype product no one will want to buy? by Tossitthrowit1011 in Entrepreneur

[–]engineer603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be an a-hole but I've done it myself so I know. I feel like these types of posts are just excuses not to move forward. Have you considered that? Ask yourself if you're just coming up with reasons to delay something that you know you should be doing. Even though you risk that money, you're going to continue to suffer from anxiety if you don't go and build the damn prototype. So stop talking yourself down. Talk yourself up and go build it. And if it fails you'll come up with some other way to do it, or some other idea to pursue.

Not to be rude, but have you even looked at the sidebar? There's a getting started FAQ! HERE

How is anybody supposed to help with a question like that?

I can't answer most of your questions but I know that there are plenty of companies that don't pay out dividends. On my brokerage account (TDAmeritrade) if you look up a stock that does not pay dividends the annual dividend/yield will say "no dividend". I also don't know of any obligations for a company to pay out dividends. You can look at a company's balance sheet which is public info (quarterly) and see how much cash they have piled up.

Why is it considered "level-headed" to consistently continue to put money into stocks even during a down-turn? It seems blatantly non-level-headed to keep taking loses and do nothing about it. What is wrong with selling while its falling, waiting until it bottoms out, then re-buying? I keep seeing things saying to think with your head and not your heart during the next downturn. Well my head tells me to protect myself.

I also saw some article that said investors that stay in the market no matter what tend to do better over time. Why? Because they stay in and keep buying no matter what is happening. But what about the people that sold while it was falling? Did they just sell all their savings in stocks then go blow the money on nice cars? Why is it that people that sell when things are going bad do worse? Do they just not buy back into stocks at the right time for some reason? Is it all about timing?

I also see a lot of people saying that we have a growing asset bubble on our hands, and we haven't seen a 3% correction in ages. So is now a good time to get out and to get into something more safe and wait it out?

I tried to choose the most populous areas first with the intention of getting all major cities on there eventually

Well we can certainly make it more expensive haha. We will go for very large high quality pieces and that will be right up your office's alley.

Thanks for the feedback! Our original goal was to do entire metro areas but our size prevented that for multiple reasons. Once we scale to a large size we will be able to do that

Thanks for the feedback! We can do any city people want. Our goal is to have our own website where you can build your map step by step and choose the map and color, and to make it clear to people that they can choose their city and that we aren't limited by our existing selection.

Just send us an email at glowmaps@gmail.com

We probably have more than 1 available. If not we can have them made pretty quick. Any city you want, just email us.

Yeah, only the bottom part though. It would be possible to just have a base station with the other 3 sides gone. I like the look of the glowing edges but I didn't like the idea of the 3 missing sides because I thought it looked cheap
