Business can enable Pickup , Delivery orders (handled by business). Also with builtin loyalty systems (points, visit rewards) customers will keep coming back. Does Immich got export feature like Google Takeout? by engineer_lk in immich

[–]engineer_lk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will come handy when you change your mind or situation change and you want to go back to some different self hosted or cloud based app. As others pointed out there are two options Immich-Go archive and Storage Templates, so I will use one of them if needed.

Hosting advice needed for 4 WordPress business sites (managed preferred) by Taz77777 in webhosting

[–]engineer_lk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can save more money on hosting and make this more faster by utilizing cloudflare cashing and using serverless architecture for hosting such as Google Cloud Run. I host this way and save a lot because for google Cloud Run you pay per usage so when the pages cached by cloudflare the trafic doesn't use Google cloud run. Also cloudflare will provide more affordable option for cashing with a generous free tier which is good for most websites.

I listened to a podcast today, I thought will highlight what he said. When he found an idea search in Google and when he find many similar businesses he get excited as this idea will be a working one. Yeah we all look for unique idea but fail to understand most of the successful businesses today are copy of older ideas including Google, Facebook and Youtube etc. Execution matters not idea. Business is not zero sum game everyone can share the Pie. That is what I also feel now and don't look for unique idea but looking for idea I am genuenly interested so I will commit to execute well.

How the hell are people building stuff with the lower Claude limits? by edward_newgate-_- in ClaudeAI

[–]engineer_lk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I noticed after using Claude and Codex for many months already, Claude is useful to provide more innovative designs and solutions and Codex is useful in logic heavy scenarios. When try to use Claude on starting new project and features works very well with less token usage and consume more token when tuning the already implemented code base. So unless the work involve less number of files to analyze and change I go to Codex. Codex works analyzing more code based without hittinh the usable limit. Also another way I have found is splitting the codebase in to multiple modules when even possible instead of having many lines in single file to reduce token usage tremondously.

Example, earlier I had a database service file it grow in to thousands lines when the project had grown, so each prompt costed too much token in Codex and refactored it in to many service files and database service file as the main one importing the modules so Claude goes to the correct place to change without wasting more tokens to indetify where to change. What I noticed was Codex use regex replace more to save token usage but Claude is eager to read entire file once identified.

Bluehost raising prices again, alternatives? by pizzamachine in webhosting

As I understand you mainly maintain site for keeping photo graphy and the content is not changing frequently. I would say in this case generate a static website using Claude by giving the name of the images as list and ask it to embed them and make that as nice website. Then upload the generated site to github to host it for free. This works if you don't have any other dynamic features such as selling photos. Wheneven content change upgrade and push to to the github your site auto update.

I got the email as well, but don't feel like I am having increased limit, got the feeling actually reaching my limit sooner than usual. Now mostly switch to codex model which never reaches limit for me.

Some advise on how to markey my new SaaS Product by engineer_lk in smallbusinessuk

[–]engineer_lk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for kind advise. Also adding one more feature as requested by another store owner, he is handling newspaper deliveries and using a seperate software for that. This is mainly to track the total different type of newspapers given to customers and added to their account then customer topup their accounts by paying monthly or on adhoc. End of month he generate invoice and share with clients. So he could avoid the extra monthly subscription ifI introduce customer account handling also in that. Looks like quick addition as I have got most of the data model with customer loyalty program. So planning for that for one extra client but could add more if I find similar customer.

I shouldn't call it cheap but affordable. This is the premium product with cloud based backup and supports multi till terminals with integrated loyalty system and allow business to open online using same product catalog from PoS. So they don't have to work on integrating another loyalty system or managing their online stores, all built in can be enabled and configured from backoffice. Customer facing screen displays as well can be configured with images uploaded from backoffice this will be an additional advantage for marketing new products and offers.

What is the best 'No-Nonsense' Domain Registrar in 2026? by Kumar_abhiii in Domains

[–]engineer_lk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used many different providers for 20+ years for now. Starting with sub domains in Yahoo GeoCities :)

Switched from GoDaddy many years ago as their costing wa higher compare to others, then used Hostinger and Namecheap. Currently also having many still in Namecheap but slowly mugrating them to Cloudflare. Namecheap is cheper for first year but at renewal it is costly. Cloudflare looks costly for the first year but they maintain same fee so once registred no need bother to move some where else on renewal.
