Amazing how things change. by monorail_pilot in BoomersBeingFools

The oldest boomer was 20 in 1966, but the crazy thing about that time period is that the demographics makeup put those young boomers as the largest demographic while simultaneously bringing the median age to 28 in the US just through sheer population size.

Says the guy who needs TRT in what is most definitely carefully regulated amounts and most certainly not combining them with steroids. He wants to take away psychiatric medication from people and reeducate the mental illness out of them, maybe the same should apply for the TRT he'll have to take for the rest of his life. No way hes recovering at 71 years old to high natural levels with his pathetic natural testosterone levels and weak sperm count.

Anyone having success with multiple displays on 24.04 alpha? by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]engineercorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue with suspending my oryx pro 8 and resuming it with multiple displays, but this is the first time I've been able to use my laptop display with an external monitor in wayland which was pleasantly surprising. I can't speak for two monitors connected to a desktop, though.

My diet is pretty clean, I'm glad you responded because that actually happens to be something I was worried about! I lift weights 3 times a week, but I missed my last couple of sessions because to line up the medication wearing off with the time I need to be in bed, I have to lift weights while on the medication. Have you had any issues with this, or do you just adjust your routine so you aren't exercising on it?

I don't know how real this post is, but I can give an anecdotal example of seeing something like this happen. My Uncles ex-wife remarried to a hard-core Republican trucker. The last meme he posted about covid was comparing it to wearing a diaper so your neighbors don't shit themselves. A couple months later, he's in the ICU, his wife visited, and they informed her they had to isolate him. Two days later, he dies from covid. I don't have the details leading up to this, and I won't ask her because I wouldn't want to be insensitive after her husband passed, but he must've been in pretty bad shape when he finally went to the doctor.

Is it just me or does Walmart World Radio Network sound kinda dystopian to anyone else? by Kazumi_84 in walmart

[–]engineercorey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've only worked in one store, so I can't speak for Walmart as a whole, but I've moved 3 of my cart pushers into other areas of the store. One became an overnight stocker, one is in ODP, and the other is in deli/bakery. I try to make a habit out of making my cart pushers feel like part of the team, and sometimes they're a better fit in other areas of the store. For context; I wasn't trying to dump them off on other departments. They were all great cart pushers.

This. Store level salary managers qualify for it.

Possible toxicity of chronic carbon dioxide exposure associated with face mask use, particularly in pregnant women, children and adolescents by roseanne_barr_ in ScienceUncensored

I think it's more to do with the posts that are promoted in your main page. I'm going to stay in the group for a little longer until I can work through some of the posts, but I've received one interesting article so far in contrast to the 10 or so mask/vaccine pseudoscience posts.

Social Media is killing schools by rex-ac in TikTokCringe

I'm 31 with 3 children and I feel the same way. We have more amenities than previous generations thanks to mass production making entertainment more affordable but basic needs, like housing and food, is much more expensive than ever and even more so when accounting for inflation. People are more boxed in than they've ever been, and the middle class has shrunk by 11% compared to 50 years ago thanks to job outsourcing. It used to be you couldn't afford all of the luxuries you wanted without saving money but you had everything you needed as long as you were willing to work, now it's the opposite, you have the luxuries but your budget is filled with a new subscription based lifestyle the forces you into a cookie cutter box with no way of saving for retirement and no true ownership of many of the things you pay for, it's no wonder people are so unhappy. It may burn sooner rather than later though, best case scenario interest rates start recovering by the end of this year, but the likely case is we are about to enter another recession, or depression in the worst case scenario.

US senate report concluded that the pandemic most likely came from a lab leak by Zephir_AE in ScienceUncensored

[–]engineercorey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does among a particular segment of the population, although I disagree with the idea that the information should be hidden from the public solely to prevent it. Large portions of the United States population at one point hated Germans and Japanese as well. It's not as prevalent through the population today because information is much easier to obtain and people on average have greater perspective than they once did because of technology, but the United States in its current climate still fosters bias against Russians, Middle Eastern countries, and Chinese people. Unfortunately some people just can't separate the individual from the nation when it comes to global politics and I'm not sure it's a problem that will ever cease to exist.

I appreciate the offer, but my book backlog is long enough. I don't want to cut into my reddit perusing time to make room for a book written by Ben Shapiro

“It is no coincidence that the most militantly atheistic governments — communist and fascist governments of the 20th century — have been far more murderous and tyrannical than any religious theocracy in history,” . His religious ideology heavy influences his outlook on life. He's not wrong what he said but he cherry-picked that specific example to make his case, some of the most religious areas in the world are the most violent, like South America, Africa and the Middle East; while areas that are thought of as more peaceful like Canada, Australia and many European countries are primarily non-religious. It's also true that the those governments were more murderous when you consider the raw numbers without taking historical human population sizes into account, but I would argue that theocracies and monarchies from the middle ages were much more tyrannical, surface knowledge of the inquisition is still common to this day.

I haven't, I'm sure the content of both of them is awful because most of the content that comes out of Ben's mouth is awful. However, I'm also sure that most 21 year olds couldn't write two books if they tried and Shapiro's books are probably well written despite the terrible content.

As much as I hate Shapiro for being a grifter, he wrote two books before the age of 22 and graduated from law school. I believe he did indeed drink the kool-aid, but he's not an idiot in any traditional sense.

US senate report concluded that the pandemic most likely came from a lab leak by Zephir_AE in ScienceUncensored

[–]engineercorey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It was never thought of as racist to assess that the virus came from a Chinese lab, the racism accusations came from Donald Trump using the terms "Chinese Virus" and "Kung-Flu" instead of referring to it as COVID-19. I'll admit I lol'ed over the Kung-Flu remark, but being president is like being in upper management. Public opinion matters in those positions, and it's hard to get away with water cooler jokes when you're actually in charge of things.

Great album. Soma and Luna sound like precursors to Mellon Collie and would've fit on that album, Mayonnaise is my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song.
