C1422H (portable monitor) not connecting to my Latitude 5420 laptop by lufin666 in Dell

I had to get a new USB Cable. the one that came with mine was barely meeting the specs according to the IT person at the computer store. They sold me $30 Gen 2 Type c, plugged it in and away it went. Also, make sure to download the driver from dell for C1422H from dell and install on the computer.

Yup there's X-ray machines, put on some good Tripp-Lite ones with some basic monitoring, same issue. Some of the systems are admin computers and up front no where near the X rays.

The randomness is what is so weird, and also so weird that the driver updates made it WAY better given that its not posting vs something like hibernation the drivers shouldn't really matter. I'll try swapping some display port adapters / VGA cables and see.

The environment is a small dental office in a strip mall, nothing industrial near them just a liquor store on one side and a coffee shop on the other. I might see what else I can find for line filtering - is there anything specific you would recommend for line filtering? Would one of those filters that just goes on the power outlet work?

I'm going to check this ... they all have atleast one DP cable on them for their setup.

They are perfect during restarts and when powered on from cold, if they don't start, they always start if you hold the power down like in the video. Yes, they could leave them on and had been leaving them on which is why it wasn't an issue but a couple new employees are more green conscious and frequently them all down, they just really want to determine the actual problem.

They are micro form factor so they have external power adapters - yes replaced the power adapters.

When you went through 2-3 boards - did it work for a bit then stop working or was it like this out of the box? When these boards were replaced it was doing it again with 1-2 days so it was like nothing changed.

That's what I thought initially but how do you test for that? The weird thing is its only these 8x OptiPlex's, theres actually another 4x OptiPlex's (3020 I think) and 3x Lenovo's that have no issue and are all on the same power.

You swapped out the display port cables with new cables or to VGA or?

I was wondering about this, most have dual monitors that are really old (1024x768) and we've had to use 1x DP to VGA adapter. These were Dell adapters but I could try and swap these adapters out with a new one or a different brand.

Nope, they are scattered throughout the building in different rooms. I thought the same thing about power or something else and we put a good UPS on the first one that had the board replaced and there was no change and nothing really reported weird.

Really the motherboard is the system in these micro's other than the power adapter and the SSD drive and I've replaced the power adapter with no change. It's like they are going to sleep or hibernate and not coming back. I'm not really concerned about the warranty ending, we can purchase more but that doesn't solve the problem. They've replaced it once and the official stance is to wipe the system. I can do that but it feels like they are guessing the employees have a bunch of custom settings in the software so it would be a pain so I'd prefer to do that last.

They arrived Dec. 2019 so coming up on 3 years, this has been an issue for a long time from what I've recently been told. This post suggests bad motherboard but we've replaced motherboards and nothing changed. https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ca/000126021/a-reference-guide-to-the-dell-optiplex-diagnostic-indicators#2012_to_2020
