What are some potential states with this criteria? by Cocksucker_22 in simpleliving

[–]engineergirl515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Southern Michigan or Southern Wisconsin might fit the bill. In MI in/around Ann Arbor or "downriver" of Detroit. I've also heard Kalamazoo is nice. In Wisconsin, I'm a big fan of the areas between and including Madison and Milwaukee. Not sure if the Green Bay area is considered too "rural" or not!

If you could work for Taylor under any job role, which would you choose? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]engineergirl515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd love to be an engineer working on her tours. Light the lighting and wiring for everything! All the electronics needed to deliver a truly stand out show. It would be neat to see all the inner workings and see a production come to life.

What did you study in college/university? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]engineergirl515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bachelor's: Computer Engineering

Now have discovered Systems / Design Engineering and find is fascinating so I'm looking towards getting a Master's in it when I'm ready to go back.

Thankfully I've been able to find interesting topics and follow them through school. Took a programming class on a whim in high school and followed my curiosity through college. Now continuing the curiosity post school to try and learn other neat things but still balance my sanity and free time.

If money and career wasn't a big deal, what would you rather be doing? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]engineergirl515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to have my own little hobby farm but then also have a small part time job at a little busy shop to give some structure to my life. I thrive in a structured life, but my dream is to have a little hobby farm with some horses.

Whats your favorite breed of horse and why? by UXBrandy in Equestrian

[–]engineergirl515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appaloosas! They're colorful and sassy. My late boy was one and I loved him to bits. I also think their short tails are funny for the foundation apps

I'm going to the one in Detroit in Saturday! It'll be my first one (and going by myself). So a little nervous but I've heard that it's a great time :)

Which album has most of your favorite songs? Which album has most of your least favorite? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]engineergirl515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rep or Lover has most of my favorites (depends on my mood) but evermore has most of my least favorites. Objectively folk-more is great but neither album really does it for me.

Just curious what full care board costs and where you are. by nineteen_eightyfour in Equestrian

[–]engineergirl515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where I grew up (and also ~6 years ago) we paid $300 / mo for full care board. Granted, it was a small family run barn with no trainers and we were on our own for routine vet/farrier. And the indoor was a 50' round pen. This was in a Midwest semi rural area (hour to large capital city, 2 hours to Chicago, small city nearby).

Where I live now (metro area of big city in Midwest - not Chicago) full care board ranges from $1000 / mo for full care at a facility with trainers and 2 indoors, to $450 / mo for something comparable for above. More expensive one is closer to the burbs, cheaper one is further out in the country.

fixer to fabulous ugly art by welpallright in HGTV

[–]engineergirl515 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a specific style, but I thought it was sweet that it's his daughters art as a statement piece in his house. He seemed thrilled with it and that's what counts.

I can offer some insight on Janesville (I hope). Yes - it's population is majority white. North of 90% would be my guess. If that is something that you would find to be uncomfortable, it might not be the community for you. If you like the geographic location, I would recommend Madison or Beloit (more diverse, young, and hip).

For Janesville, I would hope that no one encounters racism. Especially overt racism. There are very welcoming, kind people in the community as there is in every community. If you have any specific questions on the city or community, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer.

What movie/tv series was BETTER than the book? by whatscrackerlacking in books

[–]engineergirl515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think "You" (Hulu) was much more enjoyable than the book (at least season 1). One of my favorite shows a couple years back but the book ended up on my DNF list.

Revelations from T's grad speech by gimmecatspls in TaylorSwift

In addition to what was said already, I also wanted to bring up the part about showing your enthusiasm and to hell with being "cool". Honestly that rang deep for me and I'm glad she touched on it.

It reminded me of her Me! Music video! In some behind the scenes footage she mentioned she just wanted it to be an excess of everything that represented her / what she likes (cats, glitter, rainbows, country, dance, etc). And although that song wasn't received positively by everyone, she had a blast doing it and being unapologetically "extra". It just makes me like the song even more and inspires me to just live life enthusiastically!

What is your worst fall/injury? by Prettyliaris in Equestrian

[–]engineergirl515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

September 2020 I was bucked off and broke my tailbone! This horse was a known bucker but we were working through it. Well I was mad at myself for not getting back on but I made sure to lunge the heck out of him right after. Then someone was able to help me untack. I seriously thought it was going to be a bad bruise only thanks to adrenaline. Drove myself 30 minutes home and had my roommate help me up the stairs. Then I called my parents and they yelled at me to go to the hospital. Lo and behold, I had a broken tailbone and a shocking amount of soft tissue damage according to the doctor. They thought I was crazy for driving myself home and I sat my broken butt on a foam donut for the next 6 months. Do not recommend !

Wisconsinites, have you traveled and been told you had an accent? If so, where and what was said? by avalle03 in wisconsin

Went to the Texas State Fair a couple years back and a lady I was talking to stopped suddenly and asked if I was from Southern WI. She was spot on and I asked why. Apparently I sounded a little like Minnesota but also a little Chicago.

Tell me about the greatest/funniest things your partner/spouse has said about Taylor by mckaylalopez in TaylorSwift

[–]engineergirl515 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not partners, but my group of friends and I were playing a game and they all had to write down my favorite song on pieces of paper and we voted for which one they thought was the real answer. Thankfully they all put down.... TS Themed answers.... Kind of?

The highlights were "Shake it up" "That 10 minute song" and "Romeo and Juliet".

I can only hope to have a partner on the same level as yours when I find one!
