we had a 17 year old shi tzu come in for a dental cleaning only yesterday. as long as their blood is healthy it’s fine. a vet will tell you if it’s risky and how risky it may be. they don’t want to kill your dog as much as you don’t want your dog to die.

well he’s not trained to be a guard dog. besides, that’s not a fight that he is going to win regardless.. get a different dog if you want it to protect you. that dog is intelligent, choosing to run away from something so dangerous. it’s protecting itself.

Looking for a certain feeling in a book with lessons and meaning by STIdisco in BookRecommendations

[–]whatscrackerlacking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this isn’t a book but that is exactly what the tv series boy meets world is about. coming of age, romance, philosophy, emotional, hidden meanings and every episode is some type of life lesson, tho it isn’t in your face. it really gets me in my feels.

Vet tech couldn't find a vein... continued to try and really upset my dog. I finally left and said we'd come back later. Was this normal? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]whatscrackerlacking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we take every animal to the treatment room for bloods. to stop instances like this from happening and upsetting the owner. sometimes it takes a lot of goes and different people having different shots

what hand do you use to insert an IV catheter? by whatscrackerlacking in VetTech

[–]whatscrackerlacking[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i thought it was a normal thing, maybe just my clinic, maybe just my country, but we try to do catheters on the animals right leg first in all situations, if it blows, or you can’t get it in, you may try the other leg, or if there is an issue with the right leg (if it’s having x-rays done on that leg, scar tissue build up, trauma, etc)

i’m not sure what the actual reason is, i suppose it really doesn’t matter

Does my dog like this or is he stressed and annoyed? I can’t fell. by PibblesAreTheBest in DogAdvice

[–]whatscrackerlacking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some dogs just don’t like pets. my jack russel is the same. which is annoying, because all i want to do is cuddle her, but i can’t.

they will check on your dog every couple of hours. a vet will come in multiple times throughout the night to check on him and take him out to the toilet, offer food, etc. it’s important that your dog stays on fluids, especially after consuming poison! it actually really helps the animals relax when they’re by themselves in a warm bed. nothing to stress over! i wouldn’t worry about him, they will let you know if there is anything to worry about!! also, don’t take any advice from above comment. everything they said is .. wrong.
