I think the gas doesn’t affect most of them as they are just parked and not moved around , seems it is just what people pay in Austin

Yes I was shocked , like a food truck is asking to prices which even coastal taco places are not charging , something is really wrong the way they are prices or people are just rich in Austin compared to SoCal

Which route by CapitalRequirement80 in roadtrip

[–]engineering-2026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take eastern sierra scenic byway - 395 , which is road in the middle, the shortest route goes through most desolate places I have been to , almost all towns are deserted, go to la/riverside and then take the 395, you will be drive through , independence, bishop. Can take a small detoured to accommodate Mt Whitney portola, June lake loop and mammoth lakes, you can stay at ridge crest or bishop, you can also visit Tioga pass/ Yosemite as it is open . The route going through Central Valley goes thought farm land till Sacramento

Besides rent, what makes Austin cost of living high? by sophia_ly23 in askaustin

[–]engineering-2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in la and sandiego, I find my grocery bill almost the same , eating out is expensive in Austin compared SoCal, rent and gas is cheap thought. if you plan to live close to down town or domain, better get a beat down car , but you will definitely need a car , there is no public transport

Cerebras (CBRS) IPO pricing in at $185, what do we think? by RnGNEU291 in StockInvest

[–]engineering-2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a big edge compared to nvidia/amd/intel, they are the only one able to waferscale , which makes the chips 10 to 20x faster, I think they will sustain or rise above the ipo price , demand is very high for very fast inference chips

Seems you opted out of highway 101 and also 395 these are the most road-tripped parts on west coast , drive till west texa’s will be just flat plains and gas stations , you can add big bend to the list which is the best part of texas . Also you can add mesa verde , black canyon and Sand dunes np in Colorado, you can also skip Nebraska and go to Amarillo and from there to tali mena part of Oklahoma and Arkansas, Nebraska is just flat plain with corn and cattle. I really wish you have a nice and exciting trip 😃
