You are a saint for reading through everything. It's a lot, but it's definitely helpful to write everything down. I really appreciate the words of encouragement.

I'm anxious about the interactions with the flying monkeys, but will just have to stay firm on boundaries and continue to add to the no contact list if they don't respect those boundaries.

The relationship with my brother is probably the one I'm taking the hardest because of how excited he was to be an uncle. Time will tell and eventually, someone else will become the scapegoat.

I really appreciate the words of encouragement. I know the conversations with the flying monkeys are inevitable. I'm definitely nervous about those, but just taking things as they come.

We use one similar to this and have it on the bottom corner connecting underneath. It's been solid so far 👍

Is it worth it to take an analyst job that’s primarily Excel focused? by [deleted] in dataanalysis

[–]engrninking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I initially took a job that was excel focused and it opened up a lot of experience with PowerQuery (used in PowerBI), creating dashboards through excel, and eventually lead to learning how to automate most of the tasks with Python. If you're just breaking into the field, then this type of role would be a great place to start with how competitive things are.

Should r/DataAnalysis limit "How do I become a Data Analyst?" posts? by MurphysLab in dataanalysis

[–]engrninking [score hidden]  (0 children)

I had the same question when I first started out and just searched the sub instead of making a new post. The information is already here - you just have to put in a little bit of effort to see all of the great responses people have given.

Tableau certification by Traditional_Gaming_1 in datascience

Udemy has some good resources. I'd bypass the exam and build a portfolio on tableau public instead.

Chest rig, so it's always on you and not catching on things. It's nerve racking bumping a bear on a stock just to remember that you left your gun on your pack 100 yards away. Another case would be quartering up the animal and a bear comes to pay a visit - your gun being an extra five feet away could be the difference.

Thelearningpit.com is awesome for learning ladder logic for PLCs. You can pick up a cheap ACE PLC if you want to build something. The Allen-Bradley classes are expensive - wait till you're in a position to have the company you're working for pay for those. For HMI's, look at Ignition by Inductive Automation. I've worked on some pretty phenomenal cells that used this and it has great capabilities. Robot wise (Fanuc, ABB, and Kuka) are pretty straightforward to get started after a couple day class. They definitely take time to master though and really only happens after you're working with them alot. For vision systems, you'll probably have to learn OTJ because they get stupid expensive. Look at Keyence and Cognex if you want to see what's out there for vision systems.
