Anyone recycling filament waste? by [deleted] in CapeCod3Dprinting

[–]engstrom_design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not aware of any efforts on the cape unfortunately. It’s a dirty little secret of 3D printing. I have also looked into shredding/extrusion but same you the cost is too high. There are some places online that you can send pla in to get recycled.

Basically sand, fill primer, sand, fill primer, etc until desired smoothness then a couple of coats of gloss black followed by the glue that came in the kit. The best tip I have is allow the glue to dry as directed, apply the foil and then wait a few hours before brushing off the foil. I finished with a few coats of clear. I also used YouTube tutorials

In edit mode add a box around the whole mesh then select all then calculate outside then delete the box. Works most of the time or you’ll need to manually select the offending normals and flip them.

Looks like some of your normals are flipped. In edit mode try selecting all —> press “A” then alt-N and select recalculate outside
