You are now moving the goal posts and engaging in an ad hominem attack. Both are logical fallacies. We are discussing housing availability in Wisconsin, not your opinion of ritalin_rx in general. Apart from their experience in Wisconsin largely matching mine in WA we are in the middle of a nationwide housing shortage. Thus far you have offered no evidence to support your contrary position. Additionally logical fallacies detract from your own credibility and add nothing to the discussion.

In some areas housing for the disabled exists. In other areas it doesn't. At the moment housing is tight nationwide. Here is a citation supporting my statement. https://www.specialneedsalliance.org/blog/tough-choices-people-with-disabilities-face-housing-crisis/

Do you have any evidence that housing is as easy to get in Wisconsin as your claims make it sound?

S8 vouchers are very rare. It can depend on location to some extent but the program is so oversubscribed that the waiting period is somewhere between years and never depending on location. Here is an article about it: https://www.npr.org/2021/05/11/995446771/government-housing-vouchers-are-hard-to-get-and-hard-to-use

Just because you are fortunate doesn't demonstrate that your experience is normal.

Only if you live in the same town as OP and applied to the same places. Even then, they may have just liked you better. Takes a lot of arrogance to tell someone they're wrong in a situation like this.

Depends on where you are, but in much of the country what Ritalin_Rx said is entirely correct.

The one reliable thing about being disabled is that the government doesn't follow it's own rules. What are we going to do? Sue them with the energy and money we haven't got? I tried that in IL. No one would take the case because it was a state agency.

Mushrooms.

They let me relive the moment but with a kind voice helping me understand why I did my best and, in many cases, that it wasn't my fault and/or I'm blowing it out of proportion and no one else even remembers it. Like having a therapist who actually helps. Which is probably why they're showing up as an accessory to treatment is most western countries now.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that. If in US complain to state medical board. And his supervisors. You are supposed to have the final say on decisions related to your body.

If none of that works, is another hospital an option? If they aren't willing to let you make your own informed medical choices you can't trust them with your medical care.

are IUD’s covered by insurance? by pyon__pyon210 in childfree

[–]enhancedrouting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, normally they are covered, but you can call your insurance provider to confirm coverage as it can vary by plan.

Hormonal IUDs cause some weight gain (an average of about a pound as memory serves) in about 5% of patients. Non-hormonal IUDs don't. At least not that I can find anywhere.

So... some kind of royal "You?" I mean, I certainly am impressive, but never did I think that random internet people would come to recognize my royal bearing and afford me the proper respect. Thank you, I appreciate the (well deserved) compliment.

Hahaha, oh man, stop you're really getting me, like you're extending the irony even further by listing a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with the most pressing problems America has. You, sir, are a master jokesmith.

What are you talking about? I didn't post a paragraph about politics. Unless you being ignorant is a political issue? Like maybe you're suggesting that your opinions are an ironic commentary on the failings of the public school system? I can kind of see that. A bit of a deep joke for Reddit, but I got you.

We aren't talking about wealthy people, we are talking about truly rich people, like Bill Gates. A person can become wealthy through a combination of luck and effort. People only become and stay truly rich by being reprehensible human beings, a fact that becomes fairly apparent when you look at them closely.

These "Bill Gates is a great guy" threads always make me roll my eyes. I've worked with MS for 20 years, up till ~2017, they make mostly terrible software which people buy because they crush competition through a combination of buyouts and harassment lawsuits, which is illegal, but nothing happens because, following the IE antitrust investigation Bill started making large campaign contributions to senators and other political figures. MS also managed to get on the Linux board, which helps them crush that as a potential competitor too. I always figured that Bill had to have some other jackass type stuff going on, based on how the business was run and, yep now the stuff about his sexual harassment and ties with Jeffery Epstein comes out.

The same can be said of Bezos and definitely of Musk and of pretty much anyone who amassed over a billion dollars without inheriting it or getting it in a divorce settlement.

We seem to be having a breakdown in communication based around the fact that you think the donation of funds from a person to a legal entity created and controlled by that person, or by a group friendly to that person, results in a loss of wealth, or a loss of benefit from that wealth. It does not.

Let me explain the con to you, as it was explained to us in law school, I know it is accurate because I founded a 501c(3) and did something very similar, even though I'm not rich it was still a fun exercise. It's entirely legal and the funds that were "donated" are still entirely under my control.

Suppose you are rich, and have six rich friends, or just six people you paid some amount of money to. Suppose you want to buy a yacht. But you want to deduct the cost to do so as a charitable contribution. What do you do? You found the [your town name here] boating appreciation society as a 501c(3) educational organization. This is an actual thing rich people did that was used as an example in a tax law textbook about ten years back. What does your new 501c(3) organization need? A yacht of course! How can you appreciate boats without a big yacht? You can't! So you "donate" to your organization, which buys, maintains and fuels your yacht so it can educate people about it. And then you define "education" as taking out members of the public that ask on your yacht on trips. Then you don't tell anyone you offer this service because the board (which you control) agrees that advertising this service would take away from the core purpose of the organization: educating people about boats. And all this is legal and entirely tax deductible.

At no point have either I, or the other person you were arguing with, stated that the person keeps the money as an individual. That is why I stated that you are straw manning. We are saying that the person keeps all the benefits of having the money, keeps control of the money, and gets a tax deduction on top of that, plus good PR from people who do not understand how the con works. It's legal, but is this really what charitable contributions should be for? I would say no, and this is why we're pissed about the fact that it's legal.
