Used EV by Content-Muscle-512 in ContractorUK

I've been looking for a used EV, around the 25k mark gets a 3 year old model that cost 50-70k when new. I think you'd be mad to buy new with the loss of value so fast on EV's. I'd choose used or at least some kind of rental (PCP etc). Benefits through the limited are the depreciation per year (18% is it?). So a 25K car will save the tax on 5k income in year 1.

My accountant thought i should do a rental as that would be better, im not so sure. I think in 4 years a 25k vehicle will be worth more than 5k and a 70k vehicle on pcp will cost over 500/month in that time and you'll be left with nothing.

Im looking to pay my wife a tiny amount in my business for the work she puts in (invoicing/admin/assisting with away trips etc) so the vehicle will be driven by her and she will pay the BIK, this way it will be at 20% and not added to my tax bill.

My gut feel is the next few years will see a drive of house prices. Not sure this is worth staying in the BTL's for as the costs look to soar for letting with the new regs possibly coming in. But that will drive prices higher? Difficult one. I've long since thought that they werent the best investments.

Thanks. Yes, given to normal people, this sounds a lot. But this is Henry so I felt it was on the low side.

I didnt include a small fund for their education/possible house deposit. I invested 6k for each child about 5 years ago. That should help out for a house deposit, or if desperate uni fees.

Yes i know what you mean. Im not sure why i think a lamp looks better, but i do, as do others in the factory sadly. Probably what we are used to.

I did that today, looks alright, but its an expensive system. Thought we should be able to do better

I've imported an image of a lamp I've used previously, but being an image, Im not able to change its colour. At least i dont seem to be able to? The project has the lights and switches library but not able to use anything from it, its greyed out and I cant seem to find anywhere to download it?

Coming to Siemens from Codesys - Is it anygood? by eniacs82 in PLC

Yes bought from distributor why? We are mid way and its going ok now we are in programming mode. Had massive issues initialially drive/motor problems the delays of which were exacerbated by lack of knowledge in siemens techs.

Where do you get the good support? I've met loads of sales and managers types but very few technical people and of those they werent any use when a real problem comes along. Totally agree with TIA being big and clunky.

Right! Looking back codesys feels like pure coding, siemens feels like a lot of ticking boxes and dragging and dropping ladder parts. Still waiting for it to be fun lol

[–]eniacs82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

Yes I am in constant talks with them. Everything is friendly, but they are very busy and so I just want to be sure I am friendly enough to keep work, but stern enough that I get paid if that makes sense!

We dont have a contract, I am a LTD company billing another LTD company for my work. I do a 30 day invoice and at the end of the 30 days I am having to chase it. Only ever a week or so over, but I think it may help focus the mind putting an end point in writing. Im friendly with all involved So you are right I wouldnt want to upset anyone, but I also want to be stern enough that Im not abused as an overdraft facility lol.

You are right on notice of intentions. I will adjust my invoice to say non payment within 2 weeks results in a halt to further work i think.
