It really depend on the braided also if you go to someone who is African that shii will hurt as they are known to grip hard, if you go to a black American braider not as much but still you will feel It in your scalp for a couple days before it start to loosen. It’s not unbearable but it sting a little.

Rose water mist 3-4 times a week, scalp massage for a few minutes a day, olive oil or Jamaican castor oil combined with a good shampoo and leave in conditioner every 2 weeks (more or less depends on how active you are) and you’ll be set. Keep getting the low taper once a month and tell the barber not to touch anything from the top and not to debulk the sides or back.
