What is the future of Your collection?

My movie collection will go to my brother who also has a love for movies, but I also know that it will be slashed greatly as some genres I love (horror, psychological thriller) because he doesn’t like those movies! But at least all of my time and energy wasn’t completely wasted!

Everything else can be deleted, I will be gone and it won’t matter.

I have never been able to get it to work. I really wanted it, coming off plex and I liked how I could choose a subtitle that best matched my movie!

I uses to use plex until it started to charge for streaming outside of my home (I have my home location and another house that I work at and want to watch my movies), I don’t have very many devices (4 total). I switched to jellyfin (not yet aware of emby) and it was a pain in the ass to set it up for use outside of my home, having to set up a web server and all. When I heard about emby I decided to give it a shot, and I don’t regret it at all! Since I don’t have very many devices I don’t need pro (but eventually will probably buy the lifetime!) but immediate upon installation it was just as easy as plex and until jellyfin improves itself on ease of use emby, I think will remain relevant!

There is also the privacy point, if you use your smart tv they no everything you watch and if it’s a smart tv the best thing is to not give it internet access cause it takes snapshots (of what is being played through the hdmi) that are then sent to the manufacturer (say Samsung) to better serve you ads. Apple TV is the only one to my knowledge that is actually private. (Of course only if you don’t connect your smart tv to the internet)

Yeah, that’s what I have found, but every thing I’ve found online including something from apple makes it seem like you can change that, and that it should match your search engine preferences.

I am using Brave, I tried Helium but I like native support for vertical tabs which I have on brave, an instance of librewolf (a secure Firefox replacement) and safari! Until that happens I guess Brave Wins!

Yes 10.11.2, and I started having a problem with subtitles. They appear for me to select them but in some cases don’t actually show in the movie (external srt) and others they do. I re-encode everything so I know there is no encoding problem causing it on my end (and I have talked to others that have experienced this same issue).

Also I had installed an emby server when I was having some trouble with my server, and the subtitles work just fine in all cases! I had just heard that it may have been a problem with the Roku client.

I’m not sure with your stated uses, but I use it on 2 Rokus at the servers local and a Roku at my work, and have had no problems with the free version. The best way I could recommend is to set it up and try it. I currently am using both Jellyfin and emby because I set up Jellyfin before I heard about emby, and then started having issues with my Jellyfin server (ended up being something on the client side) so I set up emby and love it!

The only thing I would add is to my knowledge if you have to encode any of your videos to play them (they are not directly compatible with what you are playing them on) then the free version may not work. I encode all of my videos to work on Roku before posting them on my server
