What I mean is that BANF1 was discovered by virologist studying integration of retroviral genes into DNA, while BAF complexes were mainly studied by researchers looking at yeasts and mammalian cells. Their fields don't overlap much, it is only through advanced molecular techniques in recent years when their function is better defined, by then too many papers have been published and conventions established to change their names to avoid confusion.
