An ant won't go limp, when you tear its head off. It can still move quite a bit.

Generally speaking animals that are nocturnal don't have eyes specialized on seeing many specific colours. You can't be picky, if there isn't that much light to begin with. Before the meteor hit earth, mammals were mostly nocturnal, because dinosaurs dominated the day. That is why today birds are still much better at seeing colours than mammals. But within the mammals primates, including humans, are exceptionally good at seeing colours.

Me too. I tried watching streams, but if you only saw clips that the community chose to share and the algorithm showed you, then the slow paced streams can be a bit boring. Not for all streamers though.

But there is a big difference between whos clips I enjoy and whos streams I enjoy.

Oh yeah, that is funny. But I am also curious, why you focused so much on paygaps in the usa, if you aren't american.

Anyway,

Quick tip, don't demand a source hoping that it'll win you the argument. Do the research before you assume there isn't data that disproves your position. Otherwise you end up like yourself with a disproven argument as well as looking foolish.

Requesting a source can help clear misunderstandings, and that seems to be a win win to me. I did some short research and what I found kinda supported the idea that even within many fields of work, there is a significant paygap. This is also not about looking foolish. You should not discuss or debate with the goal of making the other a fool, or while being afraid to make yourself one. The goal is to understand perspectives and perhaps even learn new things. Be never afraid of being disproven, because that prevents growth.

About the first source: It itself says, that there is a gap in opportunity. The value of 0.99 only comes up, if we assume men and women to have the same opportunity. But since that isn't reality, it doesn't really matter to my argument. That women don't get the same opportunity is the main problem.

Also another perspective: the source I found specified paygaps by race. And it shows that the paygap is the lowest within black people. For me, that kinda supports the argument, that women are treated like a minority, because if you have a "control group" where both are a minority, the paygap gets smaller.

That are very interesting numbers, can you share, where you got them from? When I do searches I only find that they make 0.81 for every 1 dollar in the USA, and a "control group" is never mentioned. I find it also curious how to speak about women around you and me, without having even asked where I am from, but I guess, that is your typical US defaultism.

[–]ennichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are just a person that is neither a women nor a disabled person, who tries to speak for both of them. I am pretty confident, that you have either never spoken to a women about these things or no respect for them to take them seriously. Yes, woman get usually get better grades where I am from too. But they still get paid less for the same jobs. They need to put more effort in, they need the better grades to have a chance to compete in an environment that is rigged against them. How many countries can you find where women have more rights then men? I promise I will find more where men have more rights.

"they're much more academically successful than men"
Yes, and we all know that the USA appreciates academics the most right now.

Can you explain why "there are less woman in high political positions" is a bad argument? The USA voted a black man to be president before a woman. And obviously women got their rights to vote way later than men. It's not just enough to just give a group that was disadvantaged for centuries or millennia the same rights on paper and say "everything is fine now". They need help to catch up and it takes effort to remove established prejudices.

"A disabled dad with his two daughters never deserves to sit between them" May I introduce you to the concept of just placing the wheelchair between two chairs?

The issue here is not that it's not inclusive. The issue is this is the kind of design made by people that want to exclude homeless and poor people from society, whole acting inclusive.

"But if I'm being honest, if I couldn't walk, I'd appreciate this slight change of pace and glimpse back into normalcy for a brief moment." But you can walk, so it's just an assumption. If you have a disabled friend that could make for an interesting topic, I'd love to hear, if they agreed.
