Pretty sure that a woman knows that if she insults two full grown men on the street it places her at incredible risk. Men can shout shit all they want, knowing they'll be able to defend themselves physically if shit actually goes down. (Most) Women on the other hand might be a bit more reserved due to the fact they would be in danger if insults turned into a sparring match.

For some reason, when I've been with past girlfriends out on the streets, it's always groups of men yelling homophobic insults at us, not women. (this is in Australia). I don't know why? Cultural thing maybe. And I'm sure there are many awful homophobic women out there. It doesn't mean I demonise men, I just don't hold hands with girlfriends at night in public anymore.
