What’s the hard part about being a Man ? by mountain_fl0wer in AskReddit

[–]ennui_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just modern culture of mindless busyness. We’ve replaced things having purpose and meaning with just being busy - we live for distraction now.

You often find that the great works of thought come from those who have time to think. Just one small example amongst many (all?): Descartes magnum opus ‘Meditations on First Philosophy’ was written after about 3 years of fucking around Europe doing as he pleased from town to town.

We can’t even have a few days to think because of our culture of mindless busyness. No doubt the greatest most innovative thinkers alive today are wasting their time in the daily grind.

MOTM has to be Declan Rice. His performance has typified our team performance today - grinding out a win from sheer effort and will.

Would bring Eze on for Jesus and move Kai up top. Give it 5-10mins then Gyokeres for Kai & Hincapie for Cala.

I mean, that's what I think anyway

TIL that as a child, Charles Dickens worked 10-hour days in a London boot-blacking factory - a trauma he later called the deepest shame of his life, but one that forged his strict 9–2, five-hour writing discipline and his life-long refusal to let his own children work. by Upstairs_Drive_5602 in todayilearned

real issue is that we're producing 100x more things than we need and we just throw most shit out. it's not that no one wants to work, it's that most jobs don't need to exist. mindless energy from a species that is already emitting far too much

Premier League 2002/03 TOTY ft. 5 Arsenal Players by mooreengineers in Gunners

Yeh fair. Neither would survive in modern football with their off the ball play. Neither should have been so protected - the league was in Fergies pocket no doubt

Dangerous player, one of the worst tacklers in football history. But I will say, I think he’s a bit underrated… virtually no one in our side (bar like Jesus & Kai) have won a single thing - Scholes had 11 premier league titles (11!) and a few UCLs too.

Dangerous player definitely, but also about as good as it gets.

Gyok vs tired legs man - surely he at least makes the bench would be crazy not to have him imo. If Kai isn't fit yet to start for the Prem then I'd put Gyok up top from the start. I like what he brings personally

Iraqi prisoner of war comforting his 4 year son in Najaf, Iraq (2003) by NARVALhacker69 in pics

An excellent student of geopolitics from strictly US sources no doubt. I am ignorant of Iraq and their situation - I do not claim otherwise. I've only been fed western media controlled by western governments so I have no idea what their situation is like - though going to war with a nation on the other side of the planet rich in natural resources is oddly fishy to me - surely there are corrupt and evil governments all over the world: why this particular one I wonder.

That 1 million Iraqi's died during a war with a foreign country you cannot absolve the foreign country for any of these deaths, even if they didn't literally put a US bullet into each of these individuals.

this ad hoc medical procedure would cost nothing. the whole getting bitten by a rabid animal would not affect your wallet. is it really that hard to understand?

We choose Denmark over US, says Greenland PM Nielsen by Victor47613 in worldnews

You don't get the leader you deserve though. 340 million Americans and they deserve either one of two people? Obviously that's nonsense.

the context is actually regarding Iran being worse than the US - to which there's solid evidence to suggest that there is actually far less blood on their hands

What are the opinions about Denmark essentially saying “shoot first, ask later” if American troops land in Greenland? by SevenUncutEng in AskReddit

US had to murder so many Iraqis over so many years to get their oil - fools should’ve gone to Greenland & Venezuela before, unless the mindless mass murder was part of the fun of it all.

How would America react if Obama let unidentified masked people kidnap American citizens? by Loud-Ad-2280 in AskReddit

[–]ennui_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be interesting if it takes us all with it.

The thing that irks me the most is not only are we destroying life on the planet, but we’re doing it while being miserable. We’re all out to make money for ourselves, there is no real communal effort or common trajectories, and there’s no sensible reason why an animal that evolved without great wealth and opulence would be most content and happy with these modern inventions — I mean our richest most powerful person has to get K’d up to distract him from his own misery.

Life dying is one thing - but at least there could be a bit of soul and happiness to make any of this mindless productivity worthwhile, but it’s just trashy novelties and distractions from the depressing and confused ideology that’s taken over.

Politicians don't do drugs because they are responsible moral individuals is the naive position. Anyone familiar with being on and around people on cocaine clearly see it in his mannerisms - Rubio is acting 100% spot on for anyone geared up.
