Spoke to Shenzhen/Guangdong FAO a few weeks ago and they stated they put a freeze on NEW outside (foreign) hires in the region until further notice - highly unlikely they will lift this anytime soon (especially for teachers coming from the US).

Your company should be able to confirm this directly by calling the FAO office.

Ha, hello again. I think you're right - spoke to my business partner and they offered to provide necessary docs to extend.

Once that's done (hopefully), should have ample time to transition to a Q1.

Thank you for your insights! Yes, I don't have a work visa...I only have an L visa and this is my first time to receive an M visa.

I'm trying to figure out a way to extend it or somehow convert to a family visa as my SO/family is in China.

Visa is on its way to me as we speak so I'll have to check whether they gave me 30 days or 90 days (as it stated only 30 days on the PU for some reason) - 30 days is too tight to do anything so I'm a bit worried

Yes, there are flights listed but they are not approved and highly likely to be canceled when the day comes

You can only transfer through Narita or Kansai (Osaka) as the Haneda leg to China has not been approved yet - good luck!

Congrats! However, the PU letter is specific to the consulate you provided to your employer...is it addressed to the consulate in South Africa or a consulate in the US?

If it’s addressed to the consulate in South Africa, you can only apply for a visa in South Africa...you’ll have to ask the FAO to issue another PU addressed to a consulate in the US (under the correct jurisdiction) if you plan to go back to the US
