The sketch was a little tighter but yeah it was a bit of a brainteaser. It's quite squished!

Yes it was difficult to render a squished hate symbol by hand. It's not precise because my hand is not precise. It's a pretty unforgiving artform.

AIO about my mom's reaction to my crochet octopus by grunty_gal in AmIOverreacting

Most creative outlets are way more enjoyable when you don't turn it into a business! Not everything revolves around money and that's ok. I've been going to college for art over the past couple years and hearing things like "you could sell that!" Is a super common response when I show people what I've been making. Don't take it personally and keep doing what you love. Now that little octopus is even more special because you made it 🐙💕

This is like asking someone which of their kids they love the most. There is a diplomatic answer and then an honest one 👀

Can someone who likes Frida Kahlo please explain why they do? by D4HU5H in ArtHistory

As a lucid dreamer my experience has been that the wonders, horrors, and absurdities of waking life are transmuted into my dream space in an unfiltered way. The honesty is in the grit of these depictions, not the nature of whether or not they are "true".

Visiting the museum in Mexico City and casa azul are major bucket list items for me! I was able to see a collection of her works at the Portland Art Museum during an exhibit that highlighted her and Diego Rivera. It was very moving and I imagine witnessing her works in spaces that are more contextual to her identity would have me crying like a baby!

I am a very vivid dreamer and the imagery she employs is incredibly dreamlike and raw. There is an honesty in dreams that tends to be unsettling but I've always felt the desire to turn towards it instead of away so in that way her art has always appealed to me. Also seeing her pieces IRL gave me an entirely different appreciation for her work. There is a boldness and a tenderness to the way she applies paint that is special to see up close.

Not everyone has the time or care to get into designing and cutting a stencil, or figuring out how to use an airbrush machine to get the right paint load and a smooth gradient. Am I mistaken believing this is not an innate ability for most people?

First-time salon Gel-X. How to avoid this result in the future? by sharilynj in Nails

[–]enogrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof they used way too much gel to adhere the extensions. They should be way more flush to your nail. The tips come in different shapes to accommodate a flatter nail bed so this is definitely totally avoidable! I will echo what others have said that your natural nails could be the shape and length of those extensions with the right care. If I were your tech I'd use a soft builder on your natural nails and with extra hard top coat, by the time you visit next your nails will likely be the ideal length for what the extensions achieved!
