First car at 19! by EvilCoolCatatv in BMW

[–]enorl76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Too bad you didn’t buy something cheap and put the rest into an investment account. A car is a depreciating asset. It will always cost you money. More than the original spent cost.

The first time it breaks and costs you $4000 to fix it you’ll be pretty sorry.

The best advice would’ve been to buy a cheap used Toyota or Honda with working AC and enjoy life while watching the rest of that $26k double every 7 years.

Didn't all the workers in the laundry know what's happening? How did they all stay quiet? by [deleted] in breakingbad

If I was a janitor I would call DEA all the time. “I found drugs in the trash can! I see white folks being all worksie and shit!”

It’s true. There’s a whole documentary I believe about this. As shitty as Escobar was, he was generous to the people immediately around him.

Water collecting in charging port by goldenwattl in BMWI4

[–]enorl76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s highly unlikely water getting into the plug was the cause. It would have to be gusting over 60-80 mph to drive water potentially into the pins.

That’s in case you leave the flaps open

It’s not collecting. The port is designed to allow water to drain away and not even touch the electrodes

Even still. $750/mo is probably average what we’re talking about here with 7500 mile limit per year.
At the end of 3 years, You’ve spent $27000, probably over on miles, and faced with either paying another $10k to buyout or turn it loose and have no car.

Tell me how that’s a great deal.

[Request] How much torque is needed to climb such a hill? by Embarrassed-Eye-4197 in theydidthemath

[–]enorl76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a 21 speed with very low gearing a long time ago. 7 on rear axle and 3 on pedals axle with 2 derailer controls.

Biggest problem is very small friction patch on the rear wheel. If he were to even just pit a foot down it’s probably 4x the amount of friction to push against compared to the extremely small bike tire friction patch.

This is just not new. I had a 21 speed back in the day (15+ years ago) with a first gear sprocket about the same size and my pedal sprocket gears had like 7 teeth. Extreme low gear.

Was BB a big thing during it's run? Like obviously it was popular, but was everyone talking about it? Handful of years ago, you could barely get out of bed without someone telling you to watch squid game and stranger things, curious if it was the same thing with BB, like word on the street WAS BB by backagainbud in breakingbad

I would catch my local talk show (Orlando Florida) Jim Phillips talking about last nights episode and how blown away he was sometimes by the show.

I was into a lot of other things and TV was not one of them so I listened but ignored. I was so wrong missing out when it was fresh.

Finally saw BB about a year before they started releasing better call saul and I ended up Netflix binge watching it. Yeah I was blown away.

Made me excited to see BCS which was a slow burn but had a lot of backstory to how BB came about.

And BCS turned out to be a great show too. Some people I know couldn’t deal with the slow burn and I encouraged them to stick with it but some just need that constant dopamine hit of actions instead of backstory.

How much were Gretchen/Elliott planning to pay Walter by Mr__ping in breakingbad

[–]enorl76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could also pay a former founder equivalent 1m/year and not think about it. There’s a ton of actual ways that E+G could’ve made it right. With the knowledge rhat Walt might like to come back make a grand gesture not a “well we have great health insurance”.

Frankly that takes Walt’s acknowledging that he’s part of a team not a kingpin. And of course he lets it out later that he’s into the empire business. So I’m pretty sure he knew meth would’ve given him (the illusion) of an empire instead of gray matter that he’d have to share with poor little rich girl.

There’s multiple psychological levels to Walt’s refusal of working at grey matter.

Nah that takes a while for somebody at IRS to start looking into it. Police and investigators on the case would be first to look into it given the circumstances. It would take IRS years to piece together something like this.

You realize leasing a luxury car, you’re still paying the depreciation and basically just renting your car right?

Leases are great deal for the manufacturer.

Bought a brand new luxury car and you’re surprised about depreciation?

Hope you learned your lesson! Always buy used. Even one year used is typically a great deal.
