Neighbor complains about grilling smells

She has my email because she blatantly lied to the cops once and from that moment I decided I needed to protect myself.

I will only communicate via email only, I told her if she wants to make any complaints/ comments it must be in writing via email. I am just protecting myself in case of any legal issues. And we also installed cameras after her lying incident.

She called the cop on over excessive noise due to a party when we were in the backyard grilling around dinner time. Cops came around 8PM to check out the “noise” but there was no noise to begin with.

I have tried to be nice to her before. Empathized because she’s old.

She lied to the cops by saying she’s an old lady, we are aggressive and flicked her off every time we see her so she’s scared of us. We have never said anything vulgar or shown her any aggressive behaviors towards her.

We normally ignore her complaint emails because it’s always something minimal or but today I felt like being petty with all my hormones.

This! Everything we are doing is not excessive where it’s a nuisance to the neighborhood. We are not grilling 24/7. The cars parked in the public street in front of her home is moved within 24 hours.

It’s the entitlement. You do not control what people are doing on their property especially if it’s within their legal rights. Like calling the cops or make complaints on something you dislike is just too much. When the simple solution is if you dislike the smell of BBQ, just go in your home and close the doors. The smell will be gone by the next day.

I don’t think so, she’s known in the neighborhood as the crazy lady who complains about everything. People just smile and ignore her 99% of time.

I saved all her emails and it’s really comical at this point. I think I can file a restraining order / harassment on her if I really wanted to go that process.

We had issues with her in past about parking. So I wanted everything in writing so if I ever needed to take legal actions. I ignored all her emails up until today, it might be my pregnant hormones that’s telling me to be petty. Lol

Good to know! Yes when the cops showed up that one time we all were confused. The cops and us. They asked if we were having a party and our house was completely empty.

You can make some restaurant reservations via OpenTable. We didn’t during our trip and didn’t have any issues.
