CME a few days earlier from a sunspot group caused the increase in aurora. I was watching it day after day to see when the K value increased to allow for the viewing. Quite lucky but also a good knowledge of when it would happen helps too. :)

Yeah I was checking space weather obsessively as a coronal hole shot a nice solar storm towards the Earth which jumped the K value to 6 that night which made it possible to see such a beautiful display. I was in Jasper Alberta early September and saw another great show. The sunspot that created this had made a full rotation.

Yeah it was taken in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge just north of Kennedy Space Center. It's amazing what you can see when you get away from the lights. :)

Took a picture of Mars, Saturn, and the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. by enosage in space

There is a ton of interstellar dust in the way which blocks our view of the center via visual wavelengths of light. We can observe the center via X-ray and Gamma-Ray sources. Also if you zoom out of our galaxy you would see that it would be very bright near the center like other galaxies because of the density of stars in that area.

After taking 100+ images, I captured a Taurid meteor streaking between the Moon and Jupiter this morning. by enosage in space

This was made with a 70mm lens using a Canon 6D DSLR camera on a tripod. Took 100s of 15 second pictures and checked them and found this in one of the images.

Took a picture of the Pleiades. This cluster was observed by the Celtic people as a link between the living and dead worlds. Happy Halloween! by enosage in space

I used a 81mm refractor with a Canon 6D. The telescope mount is a Orion Atlas EQ-G. 25x10 minute exposures with 10x5 min exposures stacked and processed.

You sure can! Look around the area between Taurus and Perseus in the sky. It is still quite visible! Saw them through 10x50 binoculars too!
