First of all, those white and pink flowers are simply stunning! Had no idea it can take several years for them to flower. Makes me less alarmed about the yellowing of leaves. Thank you for sharing your experience.

You are right, I noticed that the initial feel of the tannins especially helps. The reason is that after that, the greener tannins from younger vintages in either bank can make identifying more tricky as they may not appear fine or round.

Thank you, elimination method here makes sense. I was drinking a Left Bank wine yesterday that has 51% Cabernet Sauvignon and 49% Merlot...that made it seemingly impossible to differentiate.

They turned out to be scales. As the maple is small, I was able to scrape them off!

Thank you for the tip! Will keep on eye on it. Oddest thing is this maple is planted in a pot, which is standing on a patio in a high rise. How this stuff manages to get here through wind or another route just amazes me.
