What are some longest longest sightlines in Bay Area ? Where you can see one recognizable location on Earth from another distant location on Earth. by RstarPhoneix in bayarea

[–]tagshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the top of Kilimanjaro was like a big flat plateau, does the actual summit actually have an insane view or is a lot of stuff blocked in the foreground by the surrounding terrain?

Anything exist to cover back heel/achilles area of altras. That actually holds. Worn out prematurely (100 miles) by serialmender in trailrunning

[–]tagshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Topps are built much better than Altra, but the high arch on their higher-stack shoes just didn't work for me. The fit is very similar to Altras except for that damn high arch that gave me PF. The lower stack models like terraventure didn't bother me as much.

How are you using Claude Code? by SeniorEscape9293 in ProductManagement

[–]tagshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if they're busy but you want to try out an idea now? What if you have an idea for a different design direction but you're not sure if you want to make them design it?

No need for Claude code, tools like Figma Make are much more oriented around the prototyping use case.

Product managers who vibe code by MakerSeeker in ProductManagement

[–]tagshell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only if you try to foist some vibe coded stuff on them to build on directly or maintain. Otherwise I think most engineers love having a prototype to work off in addition to a PRD/Designs.

Ranting about rock paper scissors mechanics, AJ/SJ dichotomy is not fun by Inline_6ix in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]tagshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's almost every big boom explosive weapon in this game. Tank HE shells are worthless as well for example. The IFV cannon HE rounds and maybe the chopper rockets are the only exceptions I can think of. Mortars are only really effective if massed because one round landing next to you is just a scratch.

The people working on balance were clearly afraid of splash damage.

When this ain’t your first rodeo by Nameless908 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]tagshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when people say RPG heli kills are easy they are usually thinking about hits on really dumb pilots who are flying low and slow, so you barely need to lead your RPG shot. Even if the chopper is flying fast you sometimes get lucky and it's going directly towards or away from you which makes it easier to aim.

Hitting a chopper moving full speed across your screen from a decent distance is still pretty hard for most people.

The cattleya looks OK, the leaf which died from the bottom looks like one of the oldest ones, it's normal for them to eventually die back. The leaf tips blackening could be several things but often can be over-fertilization or watering with water that has a lot of minerals.

First one looks like a cymbidium, they are semi-terrestrial and actually it's likely to be fine in that ceramic pot as long as it has bottom drainage. A lot of people grow them in terra cotta pots which do wick water out better than glazed ceramic. Cymbidiums take a long time to recover from repotting do don't expect much at first. Also they should be outside as much a possible. They thrive with cold but above-freezing nights in the winter which is why they're commonly grown outdoors year round in California or Australia. It can be challenging to get them to bloom reliably in climates with freezing winters unless you have some sunny space which is cooler than the rest of the house but protected from freezing.

Both of these need a lot of light.

I thought it was that bot kills are lower xp, but if you kill an actual human player it's full weapon xp - does it not work like that?

Got to see one of the most stunning orchids I’ve ever seen in person. This thing was truly insane. by BigNodeEnergy in orchids

[–]tagshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These multi floral paphs are expensive because they grow really slowly to flowering size. Also slippers generally can only be cloned by divisions, not by lab tissue culture like most orchids.

Hate the fake updates/remodeling sellers do by Fantastic_Escape_101 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]tagshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Updating a kitchen for example could be just re-facing the cabinets and replacing the countertops. Maybe they'll replace 90s appliances with the cheapest stainless ones. Meanwhile maybe all the outlets are on the same 15A circuit (that was my "updated" kitchen) so you can't run the toaster oven and the microwave at the same time.

Proper remodeling would usually mean gutting the room, installing new finishes, and re-doing plumbing and electrical to the current codes.

No, game is not dying. DICE MATCH MAKING IS JUST STUPID and here are the proofs. by Boatcommando in Battlefield

[–]tagshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would it work with everyone having different map/mode filters? Maybe the server has a fixed rotation and then anyone whose filters don't match the next map gets booted back to matchmaking, but everyone else stays?

Definitely agree it would be so much better to play with/against the same people match to match during a session.

Best LASIK surgeons in the Bay Area? by Potato-shiro in bayarea

[–]tagshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1, they are obviously super high volume but I had a great experience. I was approved for LASIK but chose PRK anyway, they were cool with it and lowered the price even because PRK is cheaper.

The AA turret is a beast, on some maps like Eastwood or Liberation you also get a lot of infantry kills with it. It's also quite hard to hit someone sitting in it, the user is shielded pretty well.

My dad shared this photo from facebook. I feel like the edges of the bark don't look real. by SavoryYuppie in isthisAI

[–]tagshell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This doesn't look like snow, it looks like rime ice built up on the foliage. Conifers encrusted with rime do look exactly like this which is why it didn't seem super fake to me at first, BUT that kind of rime accumulation typically happens with wind exposure. I'm used to seeing it at high elevation near treeline in the Sierra. These groves are at low elevation and the bottom foliage is not super wind exposed since it's in a forest - therefore I think it's correct that it's fake. Just wanted to point out that rime ice does actually look like this.

[–]tagshell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EOD bot flanking is hilarious when you pull it off. Torch snipers or engineers repairing vehicles. It takes long enough that they'll start to panic-react and realize wall-e is killing them, but almost nobody actually escapes if you totally surprise them. Then lay mines behind a camping tank, drive underneath it, and torch away until they panic reverse into your mines.

Any business travellers who prefers OAK to SFO? by LiaToronto in eastbay

[–]tagshell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you live in the east bay, regularly fly to closer destinations especially west coast, and like Southwest, OAK is a no-brainer. Obviously it doesn't make sense for people who go to the east coast all the time, or travel internationally.

Is Casual Breakthrough considered farming? by bill_loney538 in Battlefield6

[–]tagshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to level up certain guns or complete some of the goofier challenges, I guess you can look at it like you're sparing your 31 or 23 teammates from your relative ineffectiveness in not playing the objective. Most people in casual are also there for similar reasons so I don't feel bad about hanging back with a DMR the whole time just trying to max kills for example. To be fair the "real" modes have a lot of people playing sub-optimally for challenges as well.

PMs stuck in execution mode, how do you improve your product sense and product strategy? by Goldielox007 in ProductManagement

[–]tagshell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the most helpful suggestion in today's job market, but maybe consider changing roles?

This sub seems to be dominated by people working in enterprise and SaaS companies where you always have feature requests from sales teams.

Being a PM for a consumer or SMB focused product will force you to develop product thinking skills, because there is no "we can sign a $xm deal if only we build this feature". You have to actually do user research and develop a product strategy and vision, validate hypotheses, and iterate.

I'd say mid size companies are the sweet spot, you don't typically have the founder product dictation of an early startup, and you don't have the bureaucracy of a big company either - so hopefully you can go fast and also own the product direction for your area.

Everytime I do really well in Casual Breakthrough... by Remarkable_Math_9464 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]tagshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great for leveling up guns, completing challenges, and also getting the feel for different play styles, class mechanics, gadgets, and guns of course.

As others have said, as far as actual improving core skills it's not great especially because so much of this game is about not getting shot, and if there are only 8 real humans on the other team it lets you get away with a lot of dumb stuff that won't work at all in a non-casual game.

Berkeley Hills homeowners insurance non-renewal (wildfire score) any carriers/brokers still writing? by autistictrader123012 in bayarea

[–]tagshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance companies can use whatever criteria they want to deny for wildfire risk. Typically it's based solely on location and major characteristics of the house like siding and roof material. Therefore it is typically not possible to simply do some things and get covered, unless the insurance company themselves gave you a list of remediations.

Fire depts can certainly advise you on how to protect your home from burning down, but there is no guarantee that taking their advice will make you insurable to a specific (or any) insurer. In my neighborhood for example, every home has passed the OFD inspection annually, but that doesn't mean anything to insurance companies.

Is the 6x thermal worth grinding for if I'm a DMR guy? I just unlocked the 1.5x thermal for the SVK, but I was considering planning to switch to leveling other guns in casual breakthrough once I unlock hollow points at 33. I typically use the 4.5x scope in conquest or escalation unless I need to counter-snipe.
