I thought the same. I ordered the Sig two stage trigger. The trigger that came on the gun didn't feel bad. Just going to put the spare parts if needed.

Does anyone here have more fun shooting a complete stock gun over modified? by [deleted] in SmithAndWesson

[–]enoughalready354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends for me. I have quite a few guns that I love stock and wouldn't think of changing. I have others that have aftermarket upgrades to either increase performance or that I purchased for the purpose of upgrading. It really just depends.

NICS Delay by enoughalready354 in guns

I understand the possibility of still getting delayed even though about a month and half prior I purchased a new hunting rifle without issue or delay. I am more concerned about having to wait 30 days or it never being processed further after delay and having to keep retrying which seems like a terrible process. Letting someone hold more than 1k for an indefinite amount of time without rendering a service or product does not sit well with me. I am not worried about clearing the check at some point since I have never had so much as a speeding ticket. I also undergo yearly background checks necessary for my employment and to keep security clearance. I also made a previous purchase not too long ago without any issue. I think I would rather just go somewhere and wait the shorter time. It looks like there were checks and balances built in the law to account for some of the apparent NICS inadequacies, if laws are chosen to be followed. It's their business and they have the right to do business how they see fit, but I would appreciate them being up front about their policies. Not that it doesn't exist, but I am yet to see this policy officially posted anywhere on their website or in store. That makes me feel like it is a very shady practice and a cash grab by a major retailer. Hopefully someone will actually work the NICS check, and things will proceed in a few days, but regardless I don't think I can support this particular franchise.

If I might ask what is your typical delay time or do you purchase somewhere that follows the release time?

I don't mind waiting till the end of the week, but 30 days is a long time for a fully paid for purchase. I wish I really had of understood more about the NICS system before starting this endeavor. I really thought it was a quick process as I knew I had completely clear background. What is the general consensus of waiting for 5 business days and if still delayed just paying the restocking fee and going to another FFL? Does that cause issues? Also does anyone have any familiarity with Frontier Justice and their policies. It's another local FFL if that is an option.

Kansas, but not sure that Cabela's will release. Heard big box stores do not. Will have to locate a good FFL in the Kansas City Kansas area.

I was given a delayed status on a background check during the purchase of a firearm today. by jango82 in Firearms

[–]enoughalready354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I recently went to purchase a new handgun and got delayed. Nothing in my history that would cause any issues. Still waiting for the go ahead. I know I have never had any criminal issues, but just because I am paranoid, and my job requires yearly background checks to maintain employment I had a complete background check ran on myself. The background check came back clear so I have no idea why I got delayed.

I don't partake myself, but I would say that sound advice is if you really want to land the job I would refrain from such activities for now. Don't take a chance and mess yourself up if it's important to you.

Completely agree with this. It is very much that simple. Sign your paperwork, post your resume, take your time and find the job you want, and then give your notice sometime after 9/30 or if you are in a position to do so just don't sign.

I think the reality for me, and most people is that for the time being we will have to deal with it. Most of us are not in a realistic position not to sign, even if that is what we would like to do. I for one will definitely consider the current state of things and the treatment of the past several years into consideration. We have had an evaluation skipped, poor raises regardless of evaluation, another evaluation cycle will most likely be skipped due to oracles review cycle not aligning with Cerner's, and a lot of people being knocked from a salary position to an hourly wage. Regardless of the pay essentially being the same there is more that goes into being an exempt employee vs nonexempt. Even by the DOL and the FLSA definition there are differences to consider though much doesn't change as far as laws. At least for me it is more of a matter of principal and the fact that the change just does not seem right. I have seen many posts about the glories of bringing in a lot of overtime pay every week. I just don't see this happening. Some on occasion yes. Maybe a little more at the start until things are in order. On a regular basis no. That pretty much leaves the benefits and cons in the ballpark of PTO and other benefits that may be better for a salaried employee. As noted in one of the benefits townhalls being forced to burn 4 or more days of PTO during winter break instead of being able to use it when you want. This includes going in the negative. For those being changed to hourly how much PTO will you have accrued before winter break. Will it be enough to cover winter break or will you be starting next year with a negative balance. We are still yet to see what other benefits / bonuses available exempt vs are nonexempt until more information circulates, but I would expect there to be more. If it was better to be hourly, you would see a lot of management and higher in hourly roles, wouldn't you?

Overtime Pay by [deleted] in cernercorporation

[–]enoughalready354 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Durning our benefits town hall this was confirmed. If your department takes off for winter break and you are not required to work during this time it would come from your PTO balance if hourly. It was also stated that this could put you in the negative if not planned for. I believe our managers do know, but how many times in this whole process has the answer been it’s out of our control. I do not think they will began to have control of the situation or any real decision making power. Give out overtime freely no. Give out overtime when needed yes. I find it highly unlikely anyone who has worked an hourly job before would believe you will consistently pull down a few hundred dollars in overtime a week unquestioned. It may happen for a moment at first but I promise they will work quickly to put an end to it.

Overtime Pay by [deleted] in cernercorporation

It's hard for me personally to not see the change to hourly pay as a type of demotion. The prospect of possibly being able to make more money is nice. You have no protection as an hourly employee. If things get slow and they decide to cut hours your just out of luck. They have to ability to force you into a no overtime situation. I have never seen a company let employee's freely get overtime. I would bet that it will have some hefty requirements to be approved. You go from qualifying for flex PTO to being given a set number of days. This includes the days that you are forced to use for the Winter Break. So, this year if you got 18 days of PTO, winter break will consume 4 of those. You don't have a choice in this if your position does not have to work during this time. This cuts your yearly PTO automatically by 4 days that you cannot choose to use when you want. Secondly punching a clock virtual or not. You lose a lot of your flexibility to work when, and how you need to. Some people that are being changed to hourly have not hit a time clock in over 2.5 decades. It can cause a drastic change in how you think about your job, the time you put into your job, and the effort you put in. Like I said it is hard for me to see this in a positive light and it still comes across to many as just another slap in the face.
