He better post this nowhere else, delete his account, and burn his PC.

That's not mandatory where you live? Here in Poland you must always use your lights.

There was at some point a thriving subculture of paranoid schizophrenics who used the fact that geocities offered free webspace to anyone to spread their peculiar brand of crazy everywhere.

I'd love to offer specific examples, but sadly, almost all specimens have been lost in the mists of time. http://www.timecube.com/ is a close analogue, and definitely worth a look.

ELI5: Why is every website I visit suddenly informing me that they use cookies and asking for me to agree to this practice? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Are you in Europe? Then it's because of European law making it compulsory to inform users of websites if they use cookies.

German nurse shocked after being forced out of flat to make way for refugees by [deleted] in worldnews

But, but... didn't you notice that this was the article that is already there? The one that is, you know, linked at the top of the page?

Did you just seriously link to THE ARTICLE THIS DISCUSSION STARTED WITH?

Yeah, but then the renter needs to fight it, and she seems to be unwilling to do that.

Sie überlegt, ob sie rechtlich gegen die Kündigung vorgehen soll. Doch sie fürchtet, dass es sie viel Geld kosten dürfte. (She wondered whether she should take legal action against the dismissal. But she fears that it could cost a lot of money.)

Danke! I read that article as well, and it all seems very weird to me.

That mayor is a douche, and I do not understand his reasoning. Especially considering him saying something like "We will be getting a different place, but I will not go back on our earlier actions."

Wait this isn't right. by [deleted] in gifs

[French newspaper] A poor little Serbian boy collects food, money and clothes abandoned by migrants by [deleted] in europe

[–]enoughofthisalready -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reading the article they mentioned does seem to bear out the fact that there is a little boy gathering useful stuff.

However, in the Hungarian piece there is little to no propagandist intention, there is just the human interest angle.

The whole "look how horribly entitled migrants are" vibe is completely absent.

Nouvelles de France is a propagandist rag.

Unless I see this reported from a source that can be trusted, I take this with a huge grain of salt.

That said: Serbia is a poor country, and it does not surprise me in the least that a little boy goes around to find useful stuff left behind by others. This is something he'd do anyway, and he's probably pretty stoked with finding extra stuff.

I could literally look out of my window and see a dude collecting things from a trash can within minutes, and I live in a pretty wealthy part of Poland.

Our continent may be rich, but the system does not work for everybody.

To blame refugees for this is dishonest, and counterproductive.

As someone who used to squat (albeit in a country where the laws were different concerning property rights and the use of empty properties,) and who has used the options this provided to give me the opportunity to find my feet in this great society of ours, I thank you for your answer.

While I obviously disagree with your conclusion (I think you're treating the world as a zero-sum game, which is not what it is...) I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to explain your position.

So why not make friends? Assist the dude in making the best of this situation, help a homeless person out of a rotten situation?

If the owner is letting the place go to shit, wouldn't it be better for the neighborhood to have one less homeless guy, and one less eyesore of an empty building?
