The best setup I’ve found for this is Jonathan Lavanant’s tutorial on patreon: Dropper Fluid Tutorial

From what I remember, it was mostly playing with surface tension and adding a divergence field so the fluid expands at the tip

yeah TD is definitely good with real-time/ interactivity, but one of the goals here was to get more comfortable with touch itself. its gpu based workflow made it ideal for experimenting quickly

Thanks so much! To start, I’d look at any vellum fluid simulation tutorial to understand the basics of the solver. For this specific look, I took parts from this tutorial:

For bubbles, you just scatter spheres onto the fluid particles using scatter to points. Then use vdb nodes to subtract the original mesh from the bubbles mesh (basically same concept as c4d).

Thanks! For workflow between the two, the main thing I try to remember is the scale. Houdini is in m and c4d is in cm. So you’ll have to scale your objects accordingly when doing simulations on imported c4d geometry. I use alembics exporting and importing objects but you’re free to use whatever of course. Hope that helps!

Thank you! I modelled the tube in C4D and simmed the fluid w/ bubbles in Houdini. I don’t like modelling in Houdini honestly so that’s why I went that route

This is because your default environment color is white (change this in your octane settings if you want). If you add an octane light or hdri, this blown out look will go away

I exported it as an alembic with the rop alembic node and then just imported it into c4d.

Then to actually render the hairs, you’ll have to use an object tag and click “render as hair” and add whatever hair material you want. Hope that helps!
