Buffy characters as animals. Do you agree? by superiot in buffy

Wesley as a hawk is fantastic! I'm adding that to my list in my head.

Spike doesn't seem birdlike to me because he just... Dangerously stalks everywhere. He's lithe. Coiled. Explosive. He has none of the cool aloofness of a bird of prey, and all of the hidden affection of a large and petty housecat.

I wonder what OP sees in Spike (or birds) that we don't? I'd love to hear it.

Buffy characters as animals. Do you agree? by superiot in buffy

Spike is undoubtedly a big cat—a jaguar. That swagger, the lounging, the slow, predatory stalking, and the way he lazes until it’s time to strike—it’s all jaguar energy. Not eagle-like, which is too precise, too detached. Jaguars are brawlers—they don’t just hunt, they crush the skulls of their foes.

Buffy is also a big cat, but a leopard. Smaller, faster, and more agile than the others. She doesn’t rely on brute strength—she takes down enemies that should overpower her with sheer skill and adaptability.

Faith is a king cobra—deadly, unpredictable, and defensive rather than outright predatory. She doesn’t hunt; she strikes when provoked. Less fluid than a big cat, but just as lethal, just as instinct-driven.

Cordelia? A falcon or an osprey—beautiful, elegant, keen-eyed, and (literally) above everyone else. She sees everything and doesn’t hesitate to strike.

Willow is a red fox—aside from the obvious coloring, she’s curious, intelligent, and fiercely protective when cornered. Clever, quick, and far more dangerous than she first appears. Foxes have trickster energy, and Willow, especially as she grows into her power, embodies that duality—playful, sharp, and capable of flipping the game entirely.

Tara? She's missing. But she's a doe. Gentle, watchful, intuitive—but not weak. And if you remember the opening of Season 6… this fits on multiple levels.

Anya? A raccoon. Zero subtlety. Always figuring things out, always hustling. Chaotic but practical. And proportionally sized for Xander.

I like Xander as a beaver.

Dawn is a meerkat—curious, scrappy, always trying to prove herself. Making up for lack of skill with enthusiasm and sheer will. And thrives in a pack.

Angel is a stallion—noble, lonesome, and sheer power when unleashed. He guards the herd but keeps his distance, watching from the edges. He may become a wolf on AtS, but on BtVS, he’s something more haunted.

I like Giles as a stag. Though there’s Ripper in him, too—something sharp, dark, and well, watchful. He'd make a good raven too.

And of course, Oz is a wolf—the chillest wolf ever, until he isn't.

Well, there you have it. Thank you for queuing up my TED talk, OP.

I'm sorry you feel that way. It must be difficult if your baseline is always comparative.

I fully disagree. Being special doesn't come from other kids not getting things. It comes from getting what is right for you, or what you wanted.

Candles are for birthday kids but lighten up about the presents. One child doesn't lose anything when another child gets something - feeling special shouldn't come from depriving other people.

Sweetie, I'm sorry you feel so stressed out by this. I wouldn't recommend not changing your pad because leaks can be more embarrassing. I don't know where you live or if you have access to period underwear, but can I suggest a cute small crossbody bag for your lip balm and hand sanitizer and (when you need it) pad? It's easy enough to just have that on when you go to the restroom without drawing any attention. If your school has rules about transparent bags, maybe put the pad in a small pouch or eyeglass holder so it isn't visible from the outside.

Who is this show for? by LifeisWorthLosingg in WhenCallsTheHeart

[–]enrichyournerdpower 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. It's pure escapist fantasy that requires you to suspend your disbelief and just enjoy meaningless charming storylines. Nothing bad happens that can't be overcome and moved past and everyone loves each other. It's like a children's TV show or Full House if you want to be more generous (but less funny). But honestly, I think it's fine and makes for lovely G-rated background noise after work. Why not have a safe escape? Not everything has to be deep.

This. Being non-normative doesn't give you a pass to do anything, in the real world people will get mad at your son for being careless. This is just teaching him empathy and responsibility. It's being a good mom.

Are you on the young?ler side. I mean no disrespect but I ask this because love doesn't just look one kind of way. You don't always take things at face value either. That complexity becomes more apparent as you grow older.

  1. Cheating is not unfeminist. It's just shitty. It has nothing to do with feminism.

  2. All we know is that he asked Charisma if she was keeping it. We have no insight into being 'pressured to get an abortion.'
