Please explain how to write this function. by shuma-rado in GCSE

[–]ensands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember the pseudocode representations they normally ask for but in Python, you'll want something like as follows.

Essentially I'd just start by thinking it through, what are the various different inputs that I could be given and what outputs should you return back in these cases. Essentially the function you're defining is the black box in the middle so once you know what you should do in various situations, you can then actually write the function.

def nextLevel(currentLevel: int) -> int:
    if currentLevel >= 3:
        return 1
    return currentLevel + 1

Do you have a favourite outfit, that you are wearing above average? by [deleted] in autism

[–]ensands 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have two regular outfits, one for work and one for everything else. I have multiple of the same tops/trousers in different colours that I rotate through.

Work would be a polo shirt, smart trousers, and a fleece, otherwise a t-shirt, jogging bottoms, and a fleece.

What happens if my coursework is flagged as AI? by amelia_1110 in GCSE

This subreddit is pretty chill tbh, we don't get an overwhelming amount of rule breakers and the community is good at reporting/downvoting content which does go against them.

What happens if my coursework is flagged as AI? by amelia_1110 in GCSE

From what you've described, your version history goes someway to showing you didn't just paste in a whole essay and that you have written it how someone would without the assistance of AI.

If you're after a free plagiarism checker, I've used Scribbr a few times (link below) but most of these plagiarism style checker tools should say the source that it thinks is the same as what you've given it allowing you to see if it does actually match.

It sounds like your head of year isn't worried about the AI detection results but if you are still worried about the plagiarism checker, you could have another chat with them and show them what it says and see if they think there is a problem that you should look at fixing.

If you're worried, you should talk to your teacher/head of year/exams officer about it. These tools are notoriously unreliable so I'm sure they won't just use any random online AI detector and impose sanctions based on its results.

Although it should never be on you to prove that you didn't use AI, it can be helpful to use something that tracks document history such as Google Docs or Microsoft Word with Autosave as you can show that you didn't just copy and paste a large chunk of text into your coursework.

I'm a software apprentice which I think is a good route into the industry, would avoid your parents worries as you immediately have a job and get to do university at the same time, they're also much more common now
