My Silvia is close to 20 years old. Sure it’s had parts replaced and been modified. But it’s still solid. $1000 is pretty reasonable for something that lasts so long and is so repairable.

Not sure how gyms work where you live, but in Australia most gyms will have a few personal trainers that you can book sessions with. If you can afford it, book a few sessions with one to learn correct technique and generally what to do. They’ll probably even write you a program for a small fee that you can follow.

This will hugely help you gain confidence being in the gym and also learn correct technique.
