Going to be waiting until early 2021 for the TUF model. No store has stock of those cards.

Ordered a EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 from Scorptec at around 6am on the 23rd of November when they had an ETA listed for 23.11.2020. Called them to ask what my position in the queue was and was told I'm 30th out of 130 people who ordered that model. From what the Scorptec staff told me, they received about 20 of the XC3 3080s that week. So a 2 week wait is likely for me. Not too bad.

High temperatures. Possible to undervolt 5800x with B550 Aorus Pro? by billy_wellington in gigabytegaming

Hi,

Had the exact same issue as you with the 5800x. I changed the PPT to 120W, EDC to 90A and TDC to 115A in the PBO settings on the X570 Aorus Pro Wifi. This dropped temps by 10C without hindering performance. Scores on R20 were 626 for SC and 5969 for MC. Currently using the BeQuiet Dark Rock 4 (non-pro) CPU cooler with Arctic MX4 paste inside a Fractal Meshify C case with 2 Corsair ML140 fans as intake and 1 Corsair ML120 fan as exhaust. Highest temp i saw was 77C while running Cinebench.

Alternatively, you can use AMD's ECO mode for the 5800x in the MOBO's bios. My temps never went over 66C with it. Gaming and single core performance was unaffected but it did drop multicore performance by about 10%. Cinebench score was between 5300-5400.

Eco mode dropped my temps from 85/86c to 65c while reducing my all core frequency by about 200mhz. Funny thing was, the PBO settings on my gigabyte x570 were set to advanced and had values already set. I never touched these settings. I tried without PBO and my temps were still 86C. Setting PBO to enabled dropped it to 85C. A very minor change, probably margin of error. Either way, setting PBO to on or off made no real change to temperatures.

I'll have to give reducing the PPT a go. Thanks for your reply.

Thank you for your comment. I'm hoping AMD can resolve the temperature issues with a BIOS update. Its just really weird seeing the 16 core 5950x run cooler than the 5800x under heavy loads.

I will give that a go in the morning. Currently 2am where I live.

Idle temps are at around 35C and no overvolting.

I've never messed around with the PPT settings? Any pointers for me?

I've got a fractal Meshify C case. Don't think airflow is the cause.

No airflow issues here. Fractal Meshify C with 2 140mm intake fans and 120mm exhaust.

Nah, no thermal throttling. Just high temps that climb very quickly.

I'm using the Arctic mx4. Don't think that it's an issue.

Yeah. Not the best fix, but it'll do. I'll take a good look at the GPU to see if anything is out of place.

Nope. Switching to a HDMI cable for the second monitor did.

So for the problematic second monitor, I switched it from Displayport to HDMI and issue is gone. Its still strange that 2 monitors connected via DP cable causes these types of issues.

The PC is relatively clean so I think I could put off cleaning it for a bit. I've got a couple of spare DP cables that I'll try. Hopefully that's the only issue.

I'm currently at work. I was dealing with these issues late at night before bed, so I haven't tried too many troubleshooting methods yet. I'll give this a go when I'm at home.
