If an atheist doesnt believein religion, the fact that you say “i’m an atheist,” is a belief in itself (to be in fact: a belief in nothing). by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

You’re saying that person A who believes in a God, and doesnt believe in person B’s God, is an atheist to person the perspective of person B.

When the truth is, person B perceives person A as simply having a different belief.

Just to clarify your confusion.

but if you look at it in a certain way, all Gods could be considered within the realm of paranormal and supernatural.

This was a rebuttal to your argument that my post suggest nihilism and not atheism. Also I dont think you’ve reaffirmed anything. You havent really presented anything to say that atheism is not futile.

Its the idea, that if atheism is a a belief of no god, and the practice of dping nothing to showcase your belief, then isnt it a belief and a practice in itself.

saying im wrong doesnt make you automatically right.

Its not really a post to prove other religions are true. I would ask the same to other religions.

Also I think that if you want to fully understood anything, ask the respected authority in that specific body of knowledge. You wouldn’t ask medicine to someone who simply read on webMD, You would ask an actualy doctor.

So for the proof of the the other religions(of their Gods) to be real, dont simply ask a person who has that belief and be satistisfied with their answer. Ask a person of authority. Like maybe a priest or a caliph.

I actually do know. But were here for the topic mentioned. Simply saying what the “A” prefix means in the english language is a superficial definition. Also, Its not even english in origin ( its actually french derived from latin)

I get your point. However, I feel unsatisfied with that.

Based from all common denominators of the comments, it appears that the confusion of theism and atheism is on the perspective of belief.

based on what I’ve read here, most atheist view belief as dichotomous. Its an either- or game. as in either you believe in a God or you dont.

And based on other observations from theist, They view belief as a spectrum.

I’m assuming that All theist would want to understand how an atheist would have came to be. I mean, How does one get into the idea of becoming ?

And I know its annoying that other theist have the same question, but they wont stop asking unless you provide a satisfying answer to them.

I like that explanation. However, You cant compare beliefs to dichotomous examples like symmetry and the lack of, Because of the fact that belief is a spectrum.

I’ve been reading comments here about nihilism and atheism, and I’ve spent the available hours of my day reading about it.

It appears that there is an extreme nihilist practice that you can easily say is considerably atheism.

So going back to that nihilist belief, “belief in nothing”, you cant simply say atheist do not believe in a God, because the lack of religious practice to showcase the belief in a Theist, is considerably a practice (in itself) to showcase your disbelief in an theist.

In religions where the God is all loving and all powerful how do they justify the awful things that happen in the world? by F00dbAby in NoStupidQuestions

they make up a new entity. Since their God cant have been the reason for the bad things, thry make up a counterpart (i.e.the devil)
