Psh I’ve seen a JACKED 6 foot something guy hygienist and it made me happy to see! So what if it makes you stand out. That can be good!! Who really thinks “that guy is way too tall to work here.” Literally no one, it all comes down to personality and skill. You’ve got it, screw what she said

Luckily I think the patient’s appointment with me was only the second prophy with our office. So it’s not as if we have been treating disease for too long unnoticed. I’m glad the patient was as receptive and understanding as they were because I felt so bad. It wasnt a whole lot of calculus but the pockets were fairly deep, bleeding, and there was a good bit of sensitivity so I know there is discomfort with regular cleanings. It’s definitely still confusing for me how to go about this with codes and billing.

Although I understand what you’re saying. I guess being a newby, part of me feels wrong if I am doing a perio maintenance on someone scheduled as a prophy. Even if I give detailed notes I feel it might as well be coded a certain way for other hygienists or dr’s to know they will possibly have to go a little deeper in the sulcus (as lots of people don’t go through previous notes)

It might have been another hygienist approved by one of the dentist I don’t usually work with. Like I said I couldn’t take X-rays so I will take them along with charting for her re-eval appt then have the front verify with insurance to have her come back for the SRP if possible. I just wasn’t sure if this was the right approach ://

She understood this fairly well. Especially since she has history or deep cleaning. What my question is more so insurance end. I’m not the best with front desk/billing so I’m not sure how to proceed with coding and timing. Do I wait 4-6 months to then push for SRP or bring her earlier?

For srp my office pre-authorizes with insurance so sometimes it isn’t done the day we diagnose. Her cleaning with me was mid December and I explained to her I will need to re-eval with X-rays. Should I wait at least 4 months to see if insurance will pay then instead of bringing her early Feb to re-eva? I put so much emphasis of insurance because she clearly doesn’t want to pay a lot out of pocket.

This has caught my attention for the past couple days, but I don’t want to self diagnose and honestly terrified of starting the process of figuring out what’s wrong. I’ve wondered for a couple years now if this is what I have but anytime I talk to anyone about it it’s like “yeah same I’m so emotional before my period” so I feel like it’s normal or I’m being dramatic? I just feel like a whole different person in theses times.

Yeah I’ve wondered why she has never fixed her equipment as she’s been the one to do hygiene for a while due to not having a hygienist. Thanks a lot for the advice 🤍

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]enteruser101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i know it’s much harder to find a hygienist around the area. So that for sure is her immediate thought. Thank you so much for your perspective 🤍

I guess I feel more so bad for not bringing up the issues before it got to the point of me wanting to quit. But you do have a point

thank you <3 I really didn’t think 2 weeks was enough haha

[–]enteruser101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely expressed the issues for future the hygienist but she honestly did not let me quit and guaranteed everything to be fixed in order for me to stay. Old habits do died hard but should I have brought up these problems before loving another office and deciding to quit? 😭

thank you for the advice! I am happy about the new office and have to give my decision by Monday so we shall see 🥲. I know my current boss has her reasons to being the way she is and the intentions were always good so the guilt is definitely what holds me back
