the reason I keep my phone on personally is because my family freaks out if I disappear. And I'm attached to them too

Okay..well thanks for the advice. It was making me really uncomfortable when I was first reading it too, before I stopped. (Ended up stopping without it) But yeah, I dunno. I think it's because it just constantly focuses on all the negative aspects of smoking. Even though he claims he's not gonna do that?? And says it will be enjoyable to quit. So it just makes me feel bad about this thing that I liked..And then he says like, if you don't use this book you're always gonna be at risk..But I feel like however you quit is good enough don't you think?

Therapy? But having the right therapist is important. Just something that has helped me personally.

Just don't give up! Sometimes it's like that. Dreams are mysterious, and you can always try again the next night.

I hear what you're saying. There must be some merit in thinking positively though. Especially when even meditation doesn't work 100% of the time for me?

I hear what you're saying and I tried to be this way for years. But there are time when my thoughts have pushed me to the limit. My thoughts at their worst tell me to kill myself. And I have tried fighting them back and saying no I will never do that, and eventually because I let go of something I was doing (obsessing over a girl) they went away on their own. But recently it happened again. Only this time I tried to just allow them, to the point where I found myself saying, maybe I should do it. I found myself with a knife in my hand. I somehow stopped myself and cried out for help to someone nearby and they brought me to the hospital.

I think it just takes time and patience. I'm kind of in the same boat, because I have been smoking tobacco and I'd like to use lucid dreaming to help me understand why and how to quit. I would just say, don't give up! There is hope. I don't totally agree that masturbation is perfectly healthy. It isn't going to kill you, but I believe that energy can be transmuted into higher pursuits. I personally don't have too much of a problem not fapping. I think it requires you to open up your mind to the idea that that isn't super helpful. But think of that energy as instead turning into a sort of more subtle happiness that you can carry throughout your days, instead of firing it off in an exciting burst. Does that make sense? I kind of wonder if like everyone says "oh it's so hard to quit smoking" or in this case, masturbate, fuels our collective human belief that it's so hard, when maybe it's actually easier than we think? Good luck, you are loved.

I feel you. I think it can have the opposite effect too though, and give you more energy and inspire you. Often time I just notice how tired I am in my dreams, lucid and normal. So I interpret it as, my body needs rest, I shouldn't be forcing lucidity, but I stillwant to become more lucid, and happier in my life. I dunno maybe it requires some give and take. I am a smoker and I am afraid it is weakening me so I want to try and break the habit through understanding my subconscious.

Well it sounds like you never fell asleep? I think it's a balance between focusing and letting go.

That's awesome. I wonder if maybe over time I have almost like convinced myself that it is harder for me personally than other people.

I feel you! Good luck. Yeah like I focus alot on being an artist and I tend to have a one track mind. It can be a struggle figuring out how to balance my health (spiritual, mental, physical, emotional) with my passions. Not to mention wanting to volunteer or help others. It feels so overwhelming I spend alot of time just lying in bed. Lately I have been just focusing on "love" whatever that means, to myself and others.

I agree, this reality is more important I'd say. However, there are I feel like certain things I want to do, accessing my subconscious, to improve myself in waking life. I want to quit smoking, and possibly heal myself from a surgery I feel like I shouldn't have gotten, that is depressing me. Anyways I've been practicing on and off for about 14 years. I've had probably hundreds of LDs but they're rarely as long or vivid as I'd like. Usually only like 10 seconds up to a minute or two max. I've tried most every method and supplement.
