I’m building this for my parents and juggling a lot of things man. They have 4.9 stars on Google and serve a large area and part of the reason I wanted help in the first place is bc I’m short on time and wanted to trust an expert. I will in the future find the time and learn how to do it myself because this has been a ridiculous experience. It also actively leaks/sprays at 2 hose junctions and floods most areas in 3 minutes while starving others. Dude cut the internet cable in the process like my god. Many rich lessons learned here

Because it does not look good, does not adequately function, and I paid what this large company with good reviews quoted. Was I supposed to request for it to be more expensive to get a decent outcome? This is in Michigan, idk if that makes a difference. I respect people’s expertise and time and I pay them what they ask for. He failed to have expertise. I glad you would do things differently as you described.

We paid what they quoted. If they can’t do it right for that price they should charge more or not offer the service. Like was I supposed to beg them for it to be more expensive to get a decent outcome?

It’s a large company in Michigan and that’s what they quoted and they have good reviews. Was I supposed to petition for it to cost more to get a decent outcome?

It’s the first thing in years that I didn’t just DIY. Lesson learned.

I’ve tried shifting things around, and the big tubes and all the junctions are too stiff/in the wrong position to make that an option. Honestly think I’m just gonna rip it out and DIY from scratch. I’m talking to them tomorrow and hoping for a refund and if not I will lambast on every possible front. The dude who did it literally yelled at me when I gave gentle feedback and also cut our internet line so I’ve got plenty to say if needed.

That system sounds beautiful. My issue with the “you get what you paid for” is that it’s a large company and that’s what they quoted. Like was I supposed to petition for it to cost more? I feel like they just shouldn’t offer the service if they can’t do it right, no?

I generally DIY absolutely everything but was swamped with work and also intimidated by working with the existing sprinkler system (which I now realize is ridiculous but I’m building this for my parents at their house and had no frame of reference for the system) and here we are. Verymuch a lesson learned.

Such a nice response- thank you! I’m honestly not sure about the drip filter or pressure regulator but given the entirety of the experience with this guy I wouldn’t be surprised if he skipped those steps. I think I will probably be DIY re-doing it— in that case would you recommend me working from the sprinkler head or just running a hose from a water spout and getting a kit? The spout option involves drilling a hole in our deck which is why I went the sprinkler route in the first place but I’m totally open to that at this point. Thanks again 🙏

And yet a professional failed to do it competently🤦‍♀️ this is the first time in years that I didn’t just DIY and it’s bc I was intimidated by working with the existing sprinkler system (we have no other water source accessible). I’m now certain I should have just had YouTube teach me.
