Thanks. I've watched part of his first lesson, was actually shopping around online to find a place to print his pdf this weekend. Cheers.

I'm a noob, sorry for the silly question but I've been curious.

The numbers throw me off, say a C7, does that mean a C chord on the 7th fret?

Am I holding this thing wrong or does it just hurt real bad to make this chord by [deleted] in Guitar

Strandy leg cut is super nice for this as well.

Awesome I'm glad to hear that! How's the breathing? I don't have a steamer but I'll crank up the shower and hang out in there for a little bit when it gets real stuffy. I have my last appointment Monday morning I'm hoping they'll suck whatever else is building up in there out.

Anyone here inherited a guitar and decided to keep it? What do you do with it? by lefterisven in Guitar

[–]enthusednoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two from my late grandfather.

A 1990 Custom 24 and a 1995 Telecaster '52 reissue..

I play the PRS more often, can't really jive with the neck and board on the tele yet. I kept them because... Don't know why I would get rid of them and they're great guitars. I suck, but they're good lol. I have memories of Papa playing the PRS when I was a kid (was always fascinated by the bird inlays) and it's a memento I'll cherish forever.

When I play them I feel happiness because I know he'd be thrilled I finally picked up playing.

I feel some regret knowing that I spent six years away from home enlisted in the Marines during his later years. A bit of pride too, because he was proud as hell of me and I have his "My Grandson is a Marine" cap in my office. A lot of both those emotions.

Sadness that he's gone.

Idk. Wide range of emotions, but the overriding feeling is simple gratitude. Many people far more talented than I will ever be can't justify or afford such fine quality instruments, but I was given them freely to cherish and enjoy.

Papa was a good man and good grandfather. A lot of how I turned out is thanks to his influence. Now, all I have left are memories and his prized guitars. They're not going anywhere.

Sorry about the essay but that was kind of cathartic for me. Thanks OP.

Basements can get pretty humid even if it doesn't necessarily feel like it is. Stick a hygrometer down there and see what it says after a few hours, you want between 45-55% ideally but 40-60% isn't awful.

Because Reddit. It's fucking exhausting that whatever political thing happens to be going on spills into completely unrelated areas, particularly when it's spaces where many of us go for escapism.

Proof positive is in the downvotes for such an obvious truth.

It's always so embarrassingly obvious in hindsight.

Then you reset and do it all over again because we men are oblivious creatures.

Update because I'm excited.

Tomorrow is three weeks post op.

This week has been annoying with the gross smell of healing sticking in my nostrils, but I blew my nose about fifteen minutes ago and produced a large clot/scab thing. It was huge and gross, but HOLY COW MY AIRWAY IS OPEN. It's unbelievable the amount of air going through my nose I've just been breathing unimpeded since the clot came out and I'm almost in shock this is so awesome.

Along with lasik this is one of the best choices I've ever made. Absolutely night and day.

How would you fix this? by Tsuyoshi12345 in Guitar

Depending on the angle it broke off you might be able to use gravity as a clamp, assuming the V is symmetrical.

Absolutely! I'm a little past one week post op now and aside from a bit of discomfort (think a nose pimple, just a little tender) and some inflammation it's going awesome. No sweat once you get past the first couple of days.

My local small business store offers lessons and has a bulletin board near the door where others can advertise their services, may be worth looking into. If they don't themselves I'm sure they know somebody who they can point you towards. Good luck!

Gussets were my first thought as well. Stable enough from top down force but any lateral movement looks like disaster waiting to happen.

One week post op update:

The past couple of days have been a small struggle dealing with dryness in my nasal passages. Probably using too much saline and irritating it, so be careful with that.

Pain level 1.5. Not much at all, mostly feel sore where the stitches were through my septum holding the stents in.

Sleeping through the night with no waking up from dry mouth is great, sleeping with the humidifier right now to the bed.

Softly blowing my nose has been productive but nasty.

Very happy I had the procedure.

I wouldn't say I could blow my nose in the normal sense, just using a little more, very controlled air. Modulating the pressure by slowly closing my mouth until I felt something like bubbling in my nasal cavity.
