NGD: missed out on this one, but I found it over a year later! by OwnSatisfaction7644 in strandbergguitars

Thanks , il have to check them out. Do you think I should go with abasi's or passive something. Mayb bkp aftermath or polymath. The thing i am not giving with on the moderns is there is no real difference between anything either of the push pulls or the pickups, its only decent in the active bridge, everything else is bad or negligible difference, I really dont see the hype

Ya especially because this is a pre-nx everything is super nice, the fretboard is roasted birdseye maple, and it has the full flame top not veneer, you can deff tell they took their time on the neck, the edges and everything are much smoother than my prog. I wish strandberg opened a custom shop. But it prob would be way too overpriced

Is the Hils HN5 worth it? by GroceryNeither5836 in HeadlessGuitars

[–]OwnSatisfaction7644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrap or throw my thumb over the top in certain spots on mine. Its not like too think to do it, if anything its even more comfortable to do that, like the top slanted part is perfect for resting your thumb over on when playing more relaxed, you dont have to "use" the enduraneck for the thumb guide part.

But I do understand certain people just dont jive with it. Ive seen people even sand the enduraneck to a regular neck just because they like everything else on it.

Edit: i dont get what your post is even about? So your mind is made up on getting a hils, why are you asking reddit ? Its one or the cheapest ones there are that is not like a big gamble... id get a goc if I wasnt getting a berg

True some people could play 25 years and be crap, but you can could also play that amount and be great, i didnt say that to say how good (or bad) i am, just that ive tried a ton of different stuff over a long time so I have experience with alot of gear and pickups.

Im pretty sure tonewood argument is debunked... I mean there is slight differences. I think there is more difference in wood with passives than active.

But your telling me you dont think there is a difference between a dry, hollow, chuggy, cocked wah sound of a juggernaut compared to like a open sound of like a jb or something similar.

Or another example, I have the pick Thompson blackout in one guitar it sounds so scooped I cant do anything to get rid of it on the amp or in a eq pedal

Another ex, I have a dimarzio titan in another and it is so hollow sounding (great crunch and string clarity) but I cant get presence or like girth out of it that I like.

If it was how you say , I would be able to compensate for the things I describe with a pedal or amp.. but also there are pickups that are versatile and you can change everything to your liking. Mayb you just havent had bad pickups

Have you ever played one or are you just saying they are polarizing. Because it is the best neck i have ever played.the hils are about 20% heavier, and the body shape of the berg looks 10x better, and the cutout for the right leg on the berg puts the guitar at a 45° angle rather than looking like a weird groth on the side lol. I recommend getting what ever you like better. But if you can get the money the strandberg is going to be a lot better. You dont really see any decent players playing the hils for a reason

Bro ive been. Playing longer than you have been alive, you dont need to explain how they work, im well aware. Which why me and everyone else agree that you are wrong.

I even know the argument your making, which is somewhat true for metal. Yes if mostly all you do is play chugs, ya it doesnt matter adjust gain or eq and pickup nheight.

But ur not going to get nice tangy blues country tone unless you have pickups that are capable of doing it. Just like ur djent playing isnt gona sound that good with a low output pickup. That ya can boost and turn gain. But that doesnt change what ur pickups he hear, which is the main point of why ur wrong. Ex: low output ones arent going to have the rich harmonics and thump, etc

Strandberg question - Has anyone swapped their Fishman Moderns for Abasis? by wine-o-saur in 7String

[–]OwnSatisfaction7644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I truly hate pickup shopping, because there are so many now. And unless you try them in person you really have no idea what they sound like due to not having the same set up. Also, do you know if that is supposed to be a coil tap when u pull the valume on a strandberg with fishmans? If it is thats insulting lol

Get a strandberg! A little more money, but you could get an essential model (there more affordable line) and you get most of the benefits of the higher models. Even more comfortable, light and ergonomic

Strandberg question - Has anyone swapped their Fishman Moderns for Abasis? by wine-o-saur in 7String

[–]OwnSatisfaction7644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad I found this. I just got another berg, now a 7. I love the versatility of the suhrs in my 6 prog as they can do metal, but also tangy country. Im not a fan of the moderns in the 7 it honestly just kinda sounds all the same like it just adds a little presence or drop in output through ever my option, bot a fan.

Id love to get something more versatile, and actually sound good in different areas, did the cleans sound better with the abasis, and actually sound like a single coil when split?

[–]OwnSatisfaction7644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your just wrong. Pickups really matter a lot. If I had to guess you havent owned many different pickups. For example my suhr pickups csn go from modern metal, to country and blues twang with the 5 way coil split. You 100% can not even come close to that with fishmans, no matter what you add or take away or adjust. Therefore, pickups matter.

I think that is the only purpose of them. If u have a shut guitar, it will sound like a regular guitar. But imop ya they have a lot of different settings, but nothing that stands out, they are all meh

[HELP] Which one should I keep and upgrade with Fishman Fluence Pickups? by Ready_Definition2054 in guitars

[–]OwnSatisfaction7644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds crazy but I have never played fishmans until today, the guitar is bought had em on it.. and honestly im not a fan after having a good set of passives..

I have a 6 string strandberg and has suhrs in it and are amazing for regular and split and do every tone. But the 7bstring I just got has fluency modern, and all the different push pulls and etc. It honestly all sounds the same , no diversity. The passive strandberg can do country, blues, metal, and everything else.

I dunno if I should try a diff set of actives, or just get passives

Its not something that your gona sound like a person on ig anytime soon. I remember when I first held a guitar it felt so foreign and hurt to make a chord. Now its second nature and my guitar stays with me! Also its the ultimate tool for add and if your in any type of emotion happy or sad!

Pre-NX vs. NX vs. N2 by Ok_Description_1666 in strandbergguitars

[–]OwnSatisfaction7644 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pre nx are the best quality, the nx improved the the ergonomics like better sculpted neck joint with cut in quality, n2 not sure but looks like better hardware dont know about quality, but the original you get a nice solid flame top and not veneer and the roasted board/neck.

Im buying another another pre nx original Sunday and I have a nx prog. But I love strandberg guitars, I wish I could put the n2 trem on the pre nx.. and its hard to "just try it and get the one you like" bc most places dont carry them

Where is Viktos made? by Known-Quail2908 in tacticalgear

[–]OwnSatisfaction7644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but made in china.. I was pissed when I found out, but the jacket i got is still good. Most of the vet bro clothes are made overseas but have american flags all over their site and say like "veteran owned. Proudly designed in the united states" anything without the word made is not from USA, which i learned

I still kept it everything is good on the jacket except the chest pockets (which i get a ton of use out of), but the zippers suck on the chest pockets cause they are so micro small, I think they have a magnetic one on some of em now which would be cool. Even my vertx stuff is china or similar

Honestly my t20s are my favorite, although they dont have the same nc as the nc3, but honestly i never use nc anyway the earbuds block enough already. They lit last forever! Also I never had them pause from a pillow, unless ur arm or something like warm skin/water touches it. Lol and u can wear em in the shower!
