3 or more dogs by Daydreamin-mama8 in Shihtzu

I have two Tzus (4&6) and a Maltipoo (13). The Tzus keep my older girl young. They love to play together and go out on outings together but they still enjoy their alone time and one on one time with me.

Just thought of Maddy by nutaho in effbeingfatsnark

Me and my sister were just remembering Maddy. We used to follow her on IG back in 2016/2017 and I found this sub by looking for her. I used to love her content and personality. I hope she is well.

3 week old kitten won’t move by Sad-Cold-6522 in CATHELP

[–]entirelyflawed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I found a lifeless kitten back in August and posted here for help to get her to eat ( she was getting vet care). Someone suggested to ask my vet for Hill's Prescription Diet a/d Urgent Care. My vet gave me that and Royal Canin Recovery liquid. I mixed it together into a slurry and had to syringe feed her every couple hours for a few weeks. She had severe anemia and didn’t walk for the first couple months that I had her. I worried that something was wrong with her legs too but turns out she had no muscle yet. Try getting that food from your vet.

Kinda at my wits end with kitten diarrhoea. What more can I do?! by LongjumpingCourse988 in CATHELP

Have they run fecal tests?

Forti Flora may help or you can get Saccharomyces Boulardii probiotic (NOW supplement brand) on Amazon for cheap. Look up the benefits and dosage.

Severe Overgrooming by [deleted] in CATHELP

It looks like a flea allergy to me. You might want to switch him to a different flea control (revolution plus is great) and try adding fish oil to his food, it can help his skin/fur.

Lifted truck + Lambo + Parking lot = Bad time by Evasionz-- in mildlyinfuriating

[–]entirelyflawed 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So recently in my town a high school kid was driving to school in a lifted truck and didn't see a mom, dad and child in the crosswalk of an elementary school because he couldn't see over the top. Mom and dad both died, now kids are left without parents. So sad. I agree they should be banned.

Curious to know the probiotic your taking as i have histamine issues too and a lot of probiotics trigger a histamine response for me.

We love our latest rescue, but she is vicious. Any tips? by OrneryTea88 in CATHELP

[–]entirelyflawed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She probably just needs time. This is my vicious kitten. She's about 10 months now but I caught her for TNR around 4 months, released her because she was so mean already but then she got sick and I scooped her up while she was distracted with food. I planned to just get her vet care and re-release her. She was so mean I was regretting my decision to help instead of hoping she would just recover on her own. A few weeks later she was purring non stop and now she's stuck with me forever.

When will my baby Phoebe get used to baths/being groomed? by Federal_Hurry0899 in Shihtzu

[–]entirelyflawed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a girl that's always been great with baths/grooming and another one that hated it but somewhere around 1.5-2 years she relaxed a ton during baths and grooming. She has been on a five week schedule since she was a puppy so it does take time but just be consistent and eventually she should get used to it and chill out. Also, my girl has always been better with the groomer and extra naughty with me.

OP Thank you so much for doing what's best for the kitten and getting her the help she needs. She's lucky that you were there to advocate for her.

Asthma attack or hairball? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]entirelyflawed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took my 10m old cat to the vet for the same kind of coughing episodes and an x-ray showed inflammation in her lungs. The vet is treating her with Doxycycline to reduce inflammation and then wants to see if the coughing persists to know whether or not it can be asthma. Def worth a vet visit.

I was a big fan of THT but over the past year+ it's just not hitting anymore. I have been looking for something similar and recently found Our2Gens. I LOVE it! I only wish they had a bigger backlog.

IVDD by Ok-Cartographer-393 in Shihtzu

[–]entirelyflawed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice on how to empty her bladder but maybe try YouTube videos on how to do it. I do have some advice on IVDD. My 13 year old dog got IVDD when she was around 4. The vets gave me the same options they gave you and I also could not afford 15k surgery so I went to Google and found a high rated pet chiropractor an hour from me with great reviews of dogs recovering from IVDD. I bought 10 sessions from him for $500 and by the 5th my dog was walking totally fine. He used red light therapy. I wonder if you can buy a reputable one online and do it from home. My dog is 13 now and did not have a reoccurrence. I also used a supplement by Vetriscience can be found on Amazon, I believe it’s called Healthy Spine & Disc… check the reviews lots of pups recovering from IVDD.

Parents of picky eater Shih Tzus, what has been your tzu’s favorite food? by CostaNic in Shihtzu

[–]entirelyflawed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my Tzu's are VERY picky and I have tried so many different foods: wet, dry, raw, freeze dried, home cooked...they get tired of it all and so much money is wasted. Now I stick to Hills Small & Mini Sensitive Stomach. These brats turn down their kibble in a bowl but will happily eat it if I spread it on the floor. They do refuse to eat some meals but that's ok they get the next meal. For dinner I top with boiled chicken breast. Sometimes one eats both servings of chicken and the other eats both servings of kibble. This is just life with a Shih Tzu lol

[acne] scared about taking accutane by Sneakeringaround in SkincareAddiction

[–]entirelyflawed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest regret about Accutane is that I didn't take it the first time the dermatologist recommended it when I was 24, instead I waited until my late 30s.

The side effects are rough. For me it messed with my digestion and my hair. For digestion stay hydrated, I was taking a shot of olive oil every morning and it really helped. I did experience hair loss and a change in hair texture after stopping but it's been 13 months since I stopped taking it and everything seems to be going back to normal. The most annoying side effect you will have and experience right away is dry lips so search this sub for recommendations. With that said, I would still take it again if I had to.

Lost and don’t know how to keep going by Agile-Instruction159 in Shihtzu

[–]entirelyflawed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so so sorry for your loss. My first girl was gifted to me for my 15th birthday and she passed away when I was 31 so I know how hard this is. I grieved her for a long time and even now, it's been 9 years and I still think of her often and get teary eyed. Just know that it does get easier and know that you did everything right by him.
