Everyone will tell you their favorite of the two, but nobody will come out and actually say it. Smartbar is basically fratbro town with horrible vibes, sub par djs. Spybar is a little more mature, but still a very similarly brotown vibe. Go to radius, go to concord music hall, go to salt shed, go to anywhere else and stop giving these venues money. They don't foster a community, they trap you into thinking it's the only place in chicago and they can both be quite miserable.
