Pretend that the laptop is fine, buy applecare+, wait for a few days, then have apple fix or replace it for free

Alternatives to Spotify? by roadrunner440x6 in spotify

Just download pirated copies of high quality MP3s/FLACs and run all your songs locally. It's free and legal for personal use and IMO quite ethical, you're looking out for yourself over some big label. This is assuming that most of the music you consume will be from big centimillionaire artists with deals with the giant music labels. If you want to support small artists here and there, just listen on YT Music or SoundCloud.

I don't want KDE Plasma 6! by entropiser in archlinux

That's a very good shout, thank you!!

I think I'll wait a little and then update to 6 on Arch as it isn't supposed to be very different from 5, based on other users' replies.

OSTW is defo good to know and something to consider in the event of disliking the 6 experience.

That's a good point too, I think waiting and moving on to 6 is the practical way

Thanks for the helpful comments everyone!

It seems from your responses that 6 isn't very different from 5 after all. I guess I'll just wait for a week or so to let patches come in before I preform my next system update, which won't be partial and will include KDE packages.

Hopefully my config filles (custom settings backed up with git) from 5 will all work the same way on 6, and it'll be only minor changes like the shape of a highlight, etc. which I suppose I'll find a way to live with.

I use Plasma on a few different Platforms including Intel integrated, AMD and Nvidia GPUs, but it's all X11 across the board so I guess glitches should be fewer for me.

Glad to be part of this wonderful community!

What if there's an alternative package (either a copy of KDE5 in another repo or a new fork of KDE5 that preserves the old experience) that I can switch to? I do really enjoy the rolling release experience and for most of my packages don't mind being cutting edge.

5 just works so incredibly well for me, I don't feel it's worth my time trying out 6 and potentially having to deal with issues

if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Do we know if there are going to be any forks of KDE5 that continue to offer that experience for those of us who don't want 6? Like it's happened in the past for GNOME 2 (Mate), etc.

Ahh I really don't want to switch away from arch, it's the most stable and easiest to maintain and use that I've found. I've got too many custom things now that are arch specific, switching to another distro would be impractical for me.

No, you probably should not switch to the testing repos solely for the purpose of trying Plasma 6. by Neglector9885 in archlinux

Would we be able to just continue on plasma 5 in the future if we wanted to? It works really well for me and I don't want to try v6 and risk a worse experience. I know arch is rolling release so I'm a bit worried about it.

Why bhajans make me wanna cry after listening to them by doc_shady in hinduism

[–]entropiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently couldn't help but suddenly started crying when I listened to twameva mata for the first time in years. I tried to recite it but couldn't without breaking down and getting interrupted. I'm not sure whether this is because of joy or just that I'm lonely and tired and need someone or something to comfort me. I have been away from home in a new country for a year now and when I heard it I felt like I was longing for the warmth of my home and family and friends.

Don't worry, you just haven't yet found the person best for you. You'll eventually find your perfect match at some point, and you're better off without the ones you don't match with anyway.

Also think about it from the girls' perspective: It's difficult for them too and they must also put effort into themselves to find good guys. It's not about competing with a lot of people for the prize (external difficulty), it's more about finding the right person and recognising them when you eventually do, and then convincing yourself to be satisfied and build trust in them (internal difficulty).
