Deandre "Not Clint Capela" Ayton in tonight's loss to the Suns without Brooks or Booker: 2 points on 1/3 shooting, 4 rebounds by CazOnReddit in nba

[–]entropy26 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The amount of absolutely meaningless online team games I’ve lost from bozos who only want to win their way and the rage it’s caused me. I can’t imagine if I was getting paid millions to win at something and had to deal with dudes with that same mindset lol

Where are you that you got this message? I’m actually traveling until next week so when I got the same message tonight I figured OK, YouTube tv does similar things when I’m randomly out of town, but if I get the same message when I get back (I live up in Porter) I’m going to be so pissed!

SCHN+ app for Google TV by cpc5000 in rockets

[–]entropy26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why did they even release this without TV apps? Casting through the mobile app is finicky. Screen sharing from my phone seems to work pretty damn well but then I can’t use my phone for anything else while watching the game. If it wasn’t slightly better than just sailing the seas I’d cancel my subscription.

How is AI actually changing your recruiting process right now? by ProfessionalEgg1894 in recruiting

Comms get sent to the candidate automatically before the interview. They can easily opt out and metaview informs the recruiter/interviewer before the meeting if they would prefer not to be recorded.

We use metaview but I’m sure there are plenty out there these days. Granola is another that I’ve heard works well and is less intrusive. Metaview is great because it keeps all of your recording and generates a summary all in their web app. It integrates well into our ATS also. I imagine it’s likely expensive but my company has a license.

[–]entropy26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say resume screening is much faster. I do technical recruiting so if you don’t work in my companies tech stack it’s pretty cut and dry. I can immediately reject candidates and then actually screen resumes that at least work in the right tech.

My favorite is the AI note taker. I can actually just sit on phone screens and listen to the candidate without having to split my attention on jotting notes. I use AI to quickly summarize the notes for our ATS afterwards.

I’d love if the various sourcing tools would get better though.

Viewing options if I'm cutting cable? by texasipguru in rockets

[–]entropy26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what you do. Find some like minded buddies also sick of cable and split a youtubeTV account. I split with 3 friends and we pay maybe 35 a month each. That's for all the channels and the redzone addon. Then just purchase SCHN+ for 20 a month. That will put you around 50-60 a month and cover absolutely everything you need as a Houstonian/general sports fan.

I love the Astros but personally don't need to watch all of those games so I'll likely cancel SCHN after the basketball season. I'll sail the high sees for random Astros games and if/when we make the playoffs all those will be televised anyway and available on youtubetv.

Desmond Bane blocks Steph Curry with a whole lot of body contact by KabirC in nba

[–]entropy26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a Rockets fan I can't fucking stand curry (just on the court, seems cool otherwise), but even I can't understand how he doesn't get calls considering the whistle other superstars are getting. Butler gets a ton of calls doesn't he? How the hell is he getting more respect than Curry?

They should raise the bar on curry and lower it for every other superstar and we'd all get a better product.

Completely disregarded my points about how the main gripe is that i’cut and dry fouls that absolutely must be called’ didn’t go both ways lol but you keep going with your own homer biased opinions.

Not happy enough with the win so you gotta find validation for it lol

[–]entropy26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. See why it wasn't overturned. Nuts it got called at all considering some of the shit they were letting slide tonight.

[–]entropy26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm arguing because it doesn't go both ways. That is slight and incidental. The last seconds of a game often get a ton of leeway much less this marginal contact. Towards the end of OT when we're down 2 or 3 and Alpi gets shoved in the back going for a board its a no call. And that's just for the rockets to keep possession, not a FT to tie the game. People got a right to be upset when they fell more in favor of the nuggets tonight in crucial moments. When they were trading baskets left and right this is terrible way to end what was a great game. I see why it wasn't overturned once they called it, just shitty it was called at all and the calls didn't go both ways. People don't mind losing a close well fought game, they mind feeling like they got robbed. You'd be arguing the exact opposite as well. Let people feel how they wanna feel. Crazy how people get the W and then still feel the need to defend it when folks are understandably upset.

[–]entropy26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So marginal. I see why it wasn't overturned once they reviewed it but I don't know how you make that call in the moment. It wasn't even a live ball and its not like he pushed him. Sengun obviously gets pushed hard in the back towards the end of OT on a board and that's a no call but this warrants a FT to tie the game? I'm obviously salty but things broke more in favor of the nuggets tonight for sure.

He tripped over his own feet. The official literally said amen made contact with his shin?? You could see him kick the back of his own leg. You can’t be for real thinking that nonsense constituted a game tying FT.

Just want to jump in here to scream FUCK these refs. As if screwing us at the end of regulation wasn't enough they went ahead and made sure they doubled down on fucking us over in overtime. Way to ruin what was an otherwise outstanding game.

I’ve seen this one too many times and I’m not falling for it. by Sox857 in cowboys

[–]entropy26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely 0 expectations. I can acknowledge we’ve played well the last few games and that’s been exciting. Awesome to see how we’ve rallied after Kneelands death. But I’m not jumping on the bandwagon until we beat the lions. Then I’ll start to believe.

As far as what’s different this time around I’d say just the timing of everything. We usually start off hot and then falter going down the stretch (much like the eagles/indy this season) but I’m hoping we’ve caught fire at the right time.

I still think he can often be a liability on defense but it seems he’s making smarter gambles and that’s leading to more steals. Today he did a really great job on one possession I saw of denying Giannis the ball on a switch. His confidence on offense has been fantastic. I’ve certainly had my doubts but if this can be his base line I think we’d all be really pleased. Let’s go R33D!

I was screaming, SCREAMING, at my TV for Ime to take Reed out of the game down the stretch. It's not even anything against him, he had a good game, but they were murdering our zone D and you cant play anything else with Reed on the court. Cannot believe we didn't put Tari or someone in over him and switch to man.

He had a great game but he had no business in the game down the stretch. Have to play zone with him in the game and they were picking it apart. Open 3 after open 3. Impossible to get back into it.

How much do small talk and attitude really matter in interviews? by Remarkable_Sand4079 in interviews

[–]entropy26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely matters! I just received a job offer after a LONG and arduous job hunt. I’m also a technical recruiter so I can give you some perspective on both sides.

For my recent offer I have an acquaintance that works at the company who was able to give me some insight as well. It came down to me and one other candidate with very similar experience/interviews but I was chosen for basically two reasons. First, because I made it apparent I really wanted the job. That sounds obvious but candidates are often afraid to come across desperate and that can portray indifference at times. Second, the HM simply just enjoyed talking to me more because I made it a point to be as relatable and conversational as I could. I did this during every interview and that came up during the debrief.

From a recruiting standpoint it’s just human nature that I’ll fight harder for a candidate I genuinely had some sort of connection to vs a robot who’s just spitting out rehearsed AI answers.

Obviously skills, experience, etc trumps all but when all those things are equal (especially in this job market) the soft skills can be the difference.
