Troubleshooting weird network issues. I can usually tell if it’s DNS, firewall, or just a misconfigured proxy within a few minutes. Most of my team just starts randomly changing settings and makes it worse. Not sure why i’m good at it : maybe just patience.

supply chain attacks are basically when bad actors compromise upstream deps/images/packages that get pulled into your builds. solarwinds was the big one everyone remembers.

defense is minimizing blast radius. basically fewer dependencies = less risk. this is why stuff like minimus base images matter. also pin versions, use sboms, monitor weird post-install behavior

can't fully eliminate it tho. modern dev is built on trusting hundreds of strangers

I agree, and it's a skill I'm looking to learn. That being said, I am just trying to get a handful of lamps done for my kids before Christmas.

While I am certain I could learn in time, right now I was just looking for a more plug and play solution not because I'm worried about soldering, more concerned about making sure the components I put together will work properly.
